Chrome NMM

What colors are recommended in creating the chrome NMM affect. I\'ve tried various shades of gray going up to blue and white, but it looks like crap so I painted over it.

Thanks,

the only way, i think to make good nmm is to make a glint to give it some detail. A nice thick wavy line diagonally done the middle of lighter paint would be fine

I\'d sugest having a look at arajy\'s minis, he does one of the bestchrome effect I\'v seen. I think he uses mainly blue colors.

I haven\'t been brave enough to try NMM yet. But I do have the one I plan to try out on my desk......taunting me.

Anyway, I recall reading a NMM guide which had 3 different styles, gold, silver and chrome.

Chrome was done by painting an Earth/Sky pattern with light blue for the sky and brown or green for the earth.

The color isn\'t really that crucial. It\'s what you do with what you got. Go online or get a book or magazine and look at some good airbrush chrome. Smooooooooooth transitions, lots of curvey lines that contour to the shape of the chrome object. Very, if not THE most important thing, is that the curves and distortions follow the dictates of the object that is chrome. A chrome effect or mirror effect is really simply the landscape, scenery that is around the chrome object only it is distorted by the curves of that object. Unless you are doing reflective copper or gold there should be no \'chrome color\'. It\'s simply what the background is. Know this, that chrome is a VERY trickey beast. There really isn\'t that much too it. BUT what few things there are to do must hit an EXACT bullseye or the effect is lost. Good luck. I\'ve been painting more than 20 years and still find chrome daunting.
