Clear matte finish

For the first time I used GW clear matte finish to get rid of the gloss caused by using an ink wash. For some reason it seemed to start dissolving and mixing with the ink and leaving a less than desireable finish. The mini had been drying for at least 24 hours so I\'m sure it was dry. Has anyone else had this type of problem?

It sounds to me like you used too much.
I did that a couple of times, at first.
I abandoned the spray, and bought myself a bottle of Liquitex matte varnish, because I couldn\'t find any Testors.

If you were using the brush type instead of the spray, then it still sounds like you used too much in one spot, or you may need to add a couple drops of water?

Any more expert thoughts than mine?

I am using the brush on type and I thinned it about 3:1. Maybe I\'ll try thinning it more because I like the finish just not what it did to the ink.

From the Liquitex bottle:

\"Thinning beyond 25% may cause poor adhesion.\"

1 part water, 3 parts matte is as high as it recommends.

I don\'t know how GW compares to Liquitex, but... going beyond that might be bad, too.
