Cloverfield

Like most things, I\'m a day late and dollar short...

I\'ve finally saw Cloverfield, and after thinking a bit, poking around for spoilers on the Intraweb (i\'ve avoided this on purpose). I liked it.

Nothing lives up to the hype, ever...and the hype this one built up was a bit much for anything less than the return of the son of god.

First of all, it\'s a giant monster movie. My expectations were not all that high. I liked the guessing game and viral marketing that has been plaguing the net. It\'s fun.

I liked the concept of the \'found footage\' when it was used on Blair Witch, and I think it works well here too.

I grew up loving Godzilla, King Kong, and other Giant monsters destroying the city, but none of those movies could ever be called \'good\'. They are cheesy, mindless fun.

Also, its cool to see the monster attack from \'ground zero\'.

It\'s not oscar worthy, but definatly rewatchable worthy. Sure, i could have done without the drama-angsty-fest for the first 30 min., and I never really got attached to the characters, but it did add a human element.

I LOVE the fact that there was no \'ending\'. What did happen? Ah, imagination is a wonderful thing. I\'m excited to see if there is a sequel (from another camera angle, or even a \'traditional\' film)

As a movie I\'d give it a C.

As a \"B\" MONSTER MOVIE, I give it a B+!

I liked it for what it was.
