Been painting this one for a little bit, im not sure if the freehand i want to do with fit anymore the flowing cape doesnt seem to agree with it like i thought, but we will see...i may decide to put it on the inside

I brightened her shoulders a bit, its tricky because the majority of that area is in shadow, i should glaze down the large highlight on the cape a bit to help make the shoulders look brighter, but because of the grainy surface it would be more work than its worth i think...I will play with it a bit more

this picture shows the skin colour quite well, but its still a bit more flesh like in person..i also toned down the ribs and brightened the boobs and rebrightened the forehead a tad to try and bring the light upwards more

I dont know what to do with the gold currently, its far too bright colour wise, but i dont know what colour to use in place of it, or if i should just glaze over it 100times with teals and blues and reds

i still need to repair the sword arm so i can finish painting the skin...not tooooo much left to do

and an old pic of the back, have done more since

I felt like testing some things out so i started work on her...I need to fix some things still before i work the skin at all

the robe will see more colours in the end as well, stronger greens, magentas and blues

First of all....very very nice work on them so far. The skin on the first vamp is some of the best I have seen. As far as the gold goes I personally think it looks pretty good. It contrasts well with the dark colors. But if you really want to tone it down a bit, either go with a bronze or even silver. I can\'t wait to see how these turn out, again, they look really nice so far.

You say the vampire\'s flesh looks more fleshy in RL, but I actually like the deathly pall it has now.

well the problem i face with the gold, is it stops the eye from moving upwards to the head...because its so bright and in your face

also the environment is supposed to be dark...

but it didnt feel right using any other colour but a gold/bronzeish...so ill play around with adding some bronzeish to it while adding glazes of blues to coo it down i think

as for the skin, when i say fleshy i just mean a bit more alive(skin like), its still incredibly pale though :p

and thanks! blending could be better, i think ill need to switch to wells to get it, i suffer too much from dried paint chips syndrome

Fantastic blending and great color choices! I\'d love to hear what you\'ve used for the vampire. Any chance of a walkthrough?

the black is pretty straightforward

basecoat:chaos+shadow grey mix

highlight by adding deneb stone

nuance with scaly green+touch of red gore and red gore +touch of scaly green

i wanted both colours deeper, and more enrichened so i mixed with each other

the skin is complex, a lot of playing around and adding and adding

deneb+skull white and a bit of dwarf flesh to make it more skin like...but very very little, and only noticeable when you compare it to the original mix

then i highlight by adding more white

shadow with shadow grey+black+deneb
and then darker, with a bit more shadow grey

tones with snakebite, blood red mixed with deneb and scaly green either pure or mixed with the red i forget

playing with concentration depending on area(more teal around neck...more red on legs, more snakebite on forehead) more shadow grey on tummy and back of legs(which i havent finished yet)

lips are a mix of a dr ph martin ink wild rose or fuschia, and P3 sanguine base...i wanted them to feel a bit more glossy..cant tell in the photo

metallics are basicly boltgun...and then washes of red gore and then some black

the effect might look a bit rough in these quick shots, but in person the metallics glazed back over actually make the red feel wet, which is what i wanted, the swords are supposed to fee on blood :)

Hey man, not bad. By the way you in fact won the Vampire Countess minicontest here on coolmini for nobody else managed to do it by the deadline but you. (You may claim the prize whenever you want, 50euro credit on CMM shop)

My apology for not responding to your CMON message. I did not logged in for many weeks and you did not put the paint into the \"CMM Vampire Countess painting minicontest\" forum where I was peeking offline occasionally.

Im sorry, I was burried under with work lately. Our miniatures have made their way into rolebooks of the best selling czech RPG game (DrD+). It boosted the sales in such way that I ended up completely stucked with remoulding and casting pre-christmas orders for in-country retailers.

One example: the CMM Ranger and the new \"DrD Ranger rolebook\" with the original concept for the miniature on the cover. Good game and quality miniatures are even more powerfull combination then we expected..
