This isn\'t a review so I\'ll apologise in advance for possibly being a nuisance...

I know that I have atleast one miniature in the book and after hearing reports that some pictures are of a poorer quality than others I\'m curious as to how mine turned out. I have a 2 mega-pixel camera which is fine for the internet but not so good for print thus my concern.

Thanks,
Arjay.

Thanks alot for that... It\'s a big relief knowing that mine weren\'t the offending images... No excuses any more, I guess I\'ll have to go and order one... Thanks again Wightzombie.

GOT IT!

Hey all, got my copy in the mail today . . . Let me just say SWEET!!!

Lots of great pics, some I expected to see, some I was pleased made it in, and some I had even not seen before. To all the contributers congrats and well done.

Wightzombie, great work on the layouts, design and graphics, it is a thing of beauty. Well Done!

Chern Ann, awesome! Thank you for getting it all together. A monumental task, but what a great result.

To everyone who has not got it yet, it rocks and is well worth the wait.

Cheers, Darkblade

Very nice!

I got mine 2 days ago. I was very pleased with the way the book turned out. It was well worth the cost and the wait. THis is going on my studio book shelf for reference. I probably should have gotten 2 while I was at it. I tend to wear out my reference materials rather quickly!

Excellent work! I\'m not into dead-horse- beating, so I won\'t restate all the good (and few bad) things that people have said. Mengu pretty much nailed it. Chern and Co. you guys are great and I am very thankful for all the good things you have done for our crazy little hobby. One small question would be why no pics from Haley??? Oh well, I\'m off to thumb through 104 pages of inspirational, educational, artistic goodness.

uhmmm well, it could be because she was contacted and didnt want to be in the book or it could be chern was using a list of people who came to the site in order and maybe shes down that list a bit. there are tons of good people who didnt get in the book and many were due to when they came ot the site etc. cherns going in a specific order. i know he posted about this earlier on how he did it but i forget where that is.

and woohoo i gots my books today and am as happy as hell yah! i was starting to look like a gobo, green with envy! i think next year ill shrink the txt a little for the cmon pics and add comments also if we can on a couple pics per page. well see how it goes. glad that bastard cover came out good and geez, the print lady was right when she said that isbn on the back was the biggest she had ever seen! need a jumbo size scanner to read that thing.

Thanks...

Thanks for taking the time to answer my little question Zombie. I suppose the cool thing about an annual is that we get to see a new one every year, so eventually everyone with the drive and skill can have their work displayed. One thing I thought of while thumbing through it was to have the scale of the models listed as well. Seeing that Warmaster Wargriffon with the ruler underneath it was a real eye-opener! With the skill level and talent of most of the painters, it\'s difficult to tell if a figure is 15mm, 28mm, 35mm, or 6 or 8 inches tall.

yeah one thing about size which chrispy mentioned too is big minis or large scale dioramas being a bit small sometimes, which is true and a bummer at that, its just that dealing with so many camera\'s some people couldnt get larger pics at all etc. it owuld be cool if we could afford shipping minis or something and getting good snaps but that would be a nightmare in regards to keeping all the minis safe and money wise etc. it kinda sucked seeing big pictures of the minis, 1024x768 etc and knowing theyd be barely big enough to be squashed down at 300dpi for print. i think its the downside to the book but the upside was a great international effort and variety. good stuff.

also for size of mini, it really just comes down to seeing a mini. when showed my friends the book today they all thought the material was interesting and the painting good, until my friend pulled out his old space wolf army and they saw the scale then they put two and two together and one was like \"holy shit, how do you paint that small!?\" so i think in the end they were pretty impressed with the little works of art.

and cenobyte- i emailed yah back - hope i didnt jaw on too much!

Signing on from LA. I received mine today.

Chern Ann and Wightzombie, you guys did a fantastic job. This is really an incredible value...almost unbelievable if it weren\'t sitting in my hands. Bravo.

Will there be second printings? I\'m only asking because I\'m positive that once this gets around, they\'ll be inquiries.

Feedback -
I really like the layout. Your suggestion (I believe it was WZ\'s) of grouping minis by painters might allow you some layout flexibility to include comments and such.

I hope future books will feature a cover that will enhance the existing one...I mean, I usually stack my similar books together and I really like the homogenous feel of a series that looks good together. Just a thought.

I\'m excited about your \"plans\" for a tips and tricks tome and inclusion of more tutorials. I\'m expecting this to become a great reference and source of inspiration.

I\'m a happy guy right now:)

Thanks
AWhang

thanx for the comment awong!

chern stated earlier if there was demand for a 2nd printing then he would see about ordering up more but in softback, not hardcover as the 1st run is a limited edition. theres plenty left for now although in the future it may be a hot ebay item etc.

as for the covers they will be similar, actually the txt will probably be the same somewhat although its color will changemaybe with other minor things, and the cover graphics will be similar in tome layout with like the graphic metal frames etc but the theme will change greatly. after making this wierd type graphic theme for the front of the book since i had no clear direction and fell into it ass backwards, the others will be clearly themed like the next one im thinking with be silver with greens etc, basically exploring a fantasy, scifi, and history theme each in turn and making the books feel like thats what your carrying around, a tome from that time.

Oh Boy its here! Feels like forever since I ordered it and it was definitley worth the wait.(And I\'ve only just flicked through it.)

One thing I might be getting soft in my old age but the dedication to Chern Ann\'s father really brought a lump up in my throat.

Chern Ann That was a nice touch. He would be proud.

Mr Postman, do you have anything for me?!

Oooh...I\'m just trying KittyKats trick... just typing a bit more...(keeping ear open for the door)....nope, nothing yet......

Anyhoo, so pleased it\'s finally reached the UK - just can\'t wait to get my hands on it. The reviews here have been a mixed blessing! It\'s great to hear everyone\'s positive comments, but it also make you want it even more and you guys who have commented have done so in such a way that doesn\'t give away the whole book.......(in Homer Simpson voice)... Hmmmm.....CMON annual...... (chomp, chomp, chomp....)

Tooshy & Finn17: Mine was posted in the US on the 15th of Sept and arrived at 07:10 Saturday 20th. (Bound to arrive out in the rural areas in three weeks time!!!!! ) *TeeHee*:bouncy: Trust me it\'s worth the wait.

Took it with me to a convention (Phalanx) in St Helens where I was doing a painting demonstration for GamesWorkshop. One of the lads I know, from GW, looked through the book and told me that Saxonangel\'s Dark Elf with transparent Ethereal sword was (I quote) \"Impossible\". Congratulations Angela you\'ve just won another fan.

Most people that looked at the book were seriously blown away and were asking about the site. So I ended up doing a bit of PR work. Expect the hit rate/membership to go up.
