My annual arrived today :D Doesn\'t smell like Harbinger, but its good anyway!

Its nice to see all those pictures printed, but its weird, I\'m convinced at least some of them look better on the screen.

The last one took so long to sell......

...that I\'m not really sure it\'s a viable project. I think Borg might be up for it if it was..???

I reckon paperback is the way to go. Like that Darkson Designs jobbie. 80 pages just filled with the latest eye candy for less than the cost of a shitty GW box of plastic gating:D

Once the first one is done, the following one\'s could just be slapped into the template - just like GW did with their GD booklets...

I think the thing that made it so long for it sell out waw the shpping cost. It did ended up beeing very expensive if shiped to europe, and I\'m pretty sur based on my ebay experience that a book can sent for less that it was beeing sent.

You have a point...

But the people who want it will buy it, the shipping was bad, but I have seen worse.

I think the shipping issue was explained by CA in a very old thread. It wasn\'t an attempt to rip Europeans off...

I would have definately bought it had it not been for the shipping to Europe.

The shipping to Europe was fast but very expensive, for sure. Shipping from the states is possible by a global priority airmail packet for a very reasonable sum...something not available here in DK.

Cheaper shipping should surely be possible.

I think it was more likely that the book was aimed at a very small audience. Don\'t forget that this is a very insular little world we have in cmon.

Good point!

Err..yeah...Good point!:D

EDIT: Before anyone thinks that\'s post padding...I do actually think Simon has a very real point.....We are a small band, and a print run of 1000 is a bugger to shift...I know we will all buy one, but what about the other 950???

well the other 950 of the first one are gone, so there is a market for this. And personally I think that with lower shippign price a lot more people in europe would be buying. I didn\'t buy specifically for this reason ans I think I\'m not the only one. Just my 2 cent :p

How wrong you are...didn\'t you realise that CMON is the centre of the universe?

Just some thoughts

I\'m really a business rookie, but would it be possible to have (for example) two smaller runs, with one printed in the US and the other in Europe? Shipping could be done regionally at a much lower shipping cost. CMONers are all over the globe, so I\'m sure finding one or two to handle the regional distribution should not be a problem.

As for the marketing, if the production costs were kept down, say by having a paperback version like Spacemunkie suggested, it might be more appealing. A high-quality product doesn\'t necessarily need all the bells and whistles.

2 years near enough to shift 950 copies of a book does not show a brilliant market!

That Darksons book cost me around £17 including the shipping. You have to admit that is pretty decent for the chance to look at quality minis on the shitter!

They are also selling it in a lot of retail outlets. Why not palm a few off on our UK retail friends? I\'m sure Mr Bird from Gamemart and Jean from Gamers Quest would be up for stocking them. I\'d certainly be up for distributing them in the UK and Europe if need be....
