i always buy m greestuff through GW (as GW is like 5 min away from my house) but it looks like the CMON is a much better deal, but since GW doesnt list how much they sell (ie weight) im curious exactly how much more comes in the CMON pack?

thx for any help

i\'m not excactly sure, does cmon sell the tubes of greenstuff or the ribbon style?, if its the tubes then you definately get more, but i\'d expect gw to be more expensive, just for the fact that it is gw.

Ok just checked and yes they sell the tube style greenstuff, so you can guarentee getting tonnes more greenstuff from cmon.

It is WAY more GS, from cmon (having bought both in the past). Also it is either better quality or a lot fresher, but compaired to GW it is heaven to work with. Every GW pack I got the stuff is hard and just feels very very stale.

you get a tube of it about 8 inches long and and inch wide. i have had mine for a year and still not used it all up. the compounds are separate so you don\'t have to cut out the middle part like with the ribbon variety. it is a lot fresher (and thus much easier to sculpt with) plus you can find out how all the different mix ratios work.

much better value and doesnt go everywhere!

@mortalgod : God you scared me, I was wondering what I had done wrong :p. Everything that the others said is true. GW GS is a major scam.

Yeah, I saw the \'new\' tube option for Kneadatite for the first time at a modelling show in the US earlier this year and bought it immediately - no more wasted middle of ribbon, finally! :idea:

i dont mind paying a couple dollars more, just to support the local store i play at. i dont consider it a scam at all. but lets not start another thread about who hates gw\'s prices and who doesn\'t.

@mattsterbenz : I\'m not starting anything. It\'s this simple :

GW : 6€50 for a 10 cm strip -> 0€65/cm
My LGS : 18€ for 1 meter strip -> 0€18/cm

It\'s your money, you\'re free to spend it as you wish ;).

And with the GW stuff, you\'re probably throwing at least 10% of the stuff away down the center where the blue and yellow are packaged touching

Oh, if you\'re going to buy it in quantity you should know about storage. Epoxy putties ages but this process can be slowed quite a bit by freezing it. Keeping the two components separate should also help according to Polymerics.

By the way, how fast it ages depends very much on climate. The warmer, the faster. In a desert it could go off in a few weeks while over here in the Netherlands it can take more than a year (I still have a testbatch standing here, and it just will not develop any skin!).

I did it just now. Not what you think... pervs :rolleyes: ;)
I just ordered some green from the CMON store and some lil\' extras. Giddygiddyjoyjoy!!

Oh, and how about storing your GS in the fridge? A no-no or is it still better than keeping it in the open?

Wrapped up well, the fridge should be good yes. Lower temperatures slow chemical reactions (speed cuts in half for each 1ºC lower I think) so it should definitely help.

With the new separated packaging option I imagine GS isn\'t going to show near as much ageing as it used to anyway - my new batch is softer and smoother than any I\'ve ever had in ribbon form :bouncy:

One thing that surprises me is that a lot of people complain about the waste of the ribbon form. If you cut out the joining section, you can save it and use it for making the first volumes on big sculpts, filling the gaps between legs for dresses, making rocks, ...

That\'s a good idea, now why didn\'t I think of that?
