CMON UNITE - Part II

Hi everyone!

I will be your new host of the CMON Unite Competition II.
I talked to the inventor of our homegrown competition Mr. UBERDARK and asked if he would like to start a second round. He told me that he had a lot to do and that he also would like to participate in the contest, so I asked if I could host it.

First I think we should discuss which minis you all like too paint. Guess one of the biggest questions is if we choose a fantasy miniature again or switch to a SciFi Miniature.

Please let me know if your interested in joining the competition. As price I think of making a goodie bag full of stuff from Austria (book, chocolate, Sacher-cake), fan article stuff from the Soccer European Mastership that started yesterday in Switzerland-Austria and of course a few minis in blister. I\'m also okay if we just set a price money, but I think it would be more interesting to get presents!? Let me know what you think!

Furthermore I also look for two people helping me with judging when Competition begins. I also want to make more transparency and think about posting the points the competititors made.

So here we go!

Yeah of course it should be achieveable for all competitors and the mini should also be nothing too exotic, so that there will be no problem getting one.

Its open for discussion, GW will be easy to buy for all.
But getting something from Hasslefree or Rackham can\'t be more difficult to get at your local minidealer right!?
Reaper? Dunno, I would have a problem getting one here, but I don\'t paint this time. So, you all choose!

I was also thinking if you all would rather do a plastic or a metal miniature?

I guess we take two choices like last time, but there should be something in common.
Easier for judging would be one miniature, though.

GW is easiest for everyone to get a hold of cheaply. I don\'t care if it is sci-fi or fantasy but I\'m in whatever it is.

Great to have you on board Wombat. So we need at least another competitor to start lol

Perhaps I should talk about the dates for this competition.
I thought about discussing and finding a suitable mini until late June.
Then all will have one week or so to get the mini and 3 weeks to paint. I think that would be mid to end of July.

You know, I\'d be interested in all this but It\'s Golden Deamon season in the UK.
Which means that my painting for the next few weeks is aimed at that.
Add in that there are quite a few people doing stuff to take to Platoon Britannica at the end of July and you may find the UK ranks a little thin.

A slightly more immediate concern: There\'s a few Games Days in June here in North America... I know I have a metric crap-tonne of painting to do before I leave for Toronto on the 18th (zomg that\'s 9 days isn\'t it?!?!!) :D I basically haven\'t done any work on my entries in months, I\'ve been having too much fun building/painting gaming figs to play with lol

Okay, so I guess its just a bad time now? Well we could start the thing with August!?

But we still could start to discuss on the topic and what minis to use and decide about starting date later!?

I think it was a great idea and it would be a shame to let this competition die.

After all I will start to get things for the goodie bag or you all prefer money?

Maybe we can decide on a group that is not very popular.

If we do fantasy, make it Orcs or Elves. Something like that.

Can anyone post the dates of the UK/US GDs?

@Ebonbuddha: Sure we can decide on something not popular. If it ends up at SciFi I guess it will be Darkeldar then
lol
But Orcs and Elves? Not popular? Thought they are very popular!?

With the imminent redux of Dark Eldar I\'m sure they\'re about to become significantly more popular.

It\'s always going to be a bad time for someone but starting it after the main competitions have finished seems like a good idea. I just have one request, I didn\'t enter last time because I didn\'t want to buy a mini specially and then butcher it to fit in with the theme. I can only really justify buying stuff if I can use it afterwards, so could we choose a set mini but keep the theme open?

You have a date for iron painter?

As far as I see it now most of the people interested in atending are already working on stuff for entries in autumn, right?

So I guess we just skip the date and just get or discussion on the topic of what minis you would all like to paint. We can already do that now.
Which leaves all of you out there plenty of time to get the mini. When we finally agree on a date in autumn or so I\'ll tell the new theme for the competition and we start.

I think we run voting for Scifi/Fantasy until this coming Sunday. Most of you are comfortable with both categories anyway so we can already finish that topic next sunday.

So keep voting plz! Even you guys/gals out there not atending, what category would you like to see next?

With the imminent redux of Dark Eldar I\'m sure they\'re about to become significantly more popular.

Here\'s the rumoured release schedule for 40k

September-October 08: Space Marines
December-January 09: Space Wolves
March-April 09: Imperial Guard
July-August 09: Dark Eldar
November-December 09: Necrons

So a year to go for Dark Eldar, and them and Necrons may switch places due to more work having been completed on the Necrons.
