Khaine D'Lacreu: paladin of horrible mold lines...Don't know if anyone else had this problem, but holly cow was she horrible to file down.

Anyway here she is filed smooth

And here she is after being hit with the wire brush on my Dremel tool

Here she is after being primed twice with Tamiya's white fine detail primer

For her, I think I'll go with a Magdalina theme like in this pic

As for the shield, since it is such a huge canvas to work with, I think I might print something out on decal paper and put it on the whole shield. Prolly some image similar to this

I might base coat her later tonight, but the primer is gagging me out of my house atm, so I'm going to the game shop till the air is breathable again.

Just got mine, and it's pretty much a perfect cast! Just one or two small moldlines to file down. Very nice mini too, looking forward to seeing all the entries! :)

Nice clean looking prep Kwill3. Good stuff :good:

Using that Magdalina art for a colour scheme makes sense to me but it's a grotesque image. Looks like yet another comic book artist who doesn't understand cartooning & therefore just churns out splash pages. Is it by Rob Liefeld, or god forbid, is it yet another artist who learned to draw the human figure from the Image founders work?

Looking forward to seeing the paint go on, cheers, B.

Got red to go on after many, many coats of paint as is typical of red.
But at least red makes everything faster, so go pally go.

Now for the black. I'm thinking I should shade and highlight the black before the red because if my brush were to slip onto some red that was shaded and highlighted, I'd prolly throw the mini across the room.

Well I have been dragging my feet on finishing this mini due to RL stuff, but here are some updates:

<I seriously need better lighting for photos>

Sure, no prob.

The red was a base of several thin coats of GW Red Gore, but this was a very old pot of paint so it might be called Ruby Red now. Basically just a nice vibrant red.

The shade was a mix of the base with some P3 Exile Blue thinned down a LOT and slowly built up to the darker areas over a mind-numbing number of coats.

The highlight was a mix of the base with GW Bad Moon Yellow and glazed/whatever term is used when you use a shit-ton of super thin coats of paint to blend the colors.

Hope that helps :)

Worked on this more over the weekend. First is the gold armor shaded. Second is the flesh base coated. Third is the hair painted and flesh shaded.

Good job. I really like the freehand on the shield but I think you could have blended a bit more your highlights on the black clothes and on the skin but the face is also well done.
