Color thoughts?

Greetings guys,

As someone daring to test my NMM skills, I need a little help figuring out the possible colors it may take to create a NMM effect shown by the picture below.

I did a lot of blending with very bright blues with white, along with some purple.

I wanted to open it up to you guys to try and get some different opinions on the colors I should use to paint something like this.

black, white, something like stone wall grey from vallejo and a Prussian blue vallejo that you glaze over the transition. if you want to post a pic of your work we may be able to help further.

try VAC-PaleGreyBlue(noticeably blueish tint), VMC-SkyGrey(almost neutral, but still feels blueish), some white and VMC-PastelBlue(despite the name not that pastely, dark enough). They are great for blueish metals in NMM.

Darkest part looks VERY blue, so I'd add a small amount of VAC-DarkSeaBlue to the pastel one to get that color. (or just add a few glazes of the DarkSeaBlue).

edit: I don't agree on the StoneWallGrey from VGC. StoneWall is a neutral, bit warm( yellowish) grey, not a cold blueish one that's on the picture.

... now that I think of it DarkSeaBlue might be too vivid, so either have to be mixed with a black/grey to desaturate it for this shadow or another one is needed (I might try VGC-SombreGrey for it, it's a 'dark' blueish grey. By Dark I mean it's darker than the PastelBlue, but might not be dark enough for the needed contrast)

ok, I tried out using VMC Grey Blue and VMC Valido Green Grey. I mixed the two, added white for the highlights and going down to pure Grey Blue for the shadows. I glazed VMC Dark Blue into the recesses.

I think I am slowly getting there, just curious on what you guys think I can improve upon this.

Moar contrast! Its a nice start but needs to go deeper. Also try putting the darkest shade right next to the lightest to really bring up the contrast. Study a few of your fav NMM minis to see what i mean. The transitions are good but you need to go deeper on the dark end to sell the effect more :)
