Ok By coloured NMM I\'m assuming that you are meaning Brass, Bronze, Copper etc.
In which case try Thierry Husser th miniatures
That\'s the direct link to his Recipies for NMM, which I think is the best around.
I use it as a basis for my NMM but find that the Bronze as he describes it needs a Mid tone such as a Flesh colour to make it look right.
his main site is THMINIATURES
Enjoy

I do think that you need to go further with the shading than Ark suggests... If you would only use the tonal ranges depicted on his site you wouldn\'t get enough contrast to make it look right.

here is an example of what I think you are talking about. this is an older work of mine, so its not too great :)

anyhoo, once you understand the concept of highlighting nmm, such as in the articles here, you can just change the colors to get what you want.

in this particular example I used Scaley Green, highlighted up to white.

what if I wanted to do a blackish nmm? what colors would I use to keep it reasonably dark? Also what about senmm on unusual shapes? How could I find where the lighting would go?

I haven\'t tried doing black NMM, but I think I know what you should do. With NMM you are basically painting a 2D technique on a 3D model. Transitions between light and dark must be made quickly.

Get your black and paint it as a basecoat, then choose a spot on the model where you would normally highlight. This is where the light would hit. Work from black to pure white in that area, being careful to blend the shades together to get a smooth transition.

I\'m sorry I have no pictures to help describe what I am trying to describe but I hope you can understand it!

SENMM can either look very good or very fake in my experience. I am not too certain, but I think the \'horizon\' mark is vertical on cylindrical shapes such as space marine greaves.

Hope this was some help! Happy painting!:)

I think it was Brokenblade who painted a very nice Emperor\'s Champion, the armor fits your black nmm description, I would reccomend checking that out.
