Colour advice : Spyglass Katalin

Hi guys,

Looking for a little colour advice here. I\'m about to start painting that very naughty demonette who doesn\'t wear many clothes :) Instead of making her the usual dark or evil demony colours (you know, reds, blacks etc), I thought I would go for a pastel look to her. I\'ve decided for her body I\'m going to base her a nice pink colour and highlight her up pretty broadly so its mainly an ivory colour, and prbably do her a platinum blonde.

The problem I have is with her wings. I want to do a slightly different colour fro her body to give some contrast, but don\'t know where to go with it seeing as I\'m using pastel colours. I\'ve been looking at Sivous Play\'s work, as he does lovely stuff in these sorts of colours, but I\'m sort of stuck.

Any ideas anyone?

Hmm... considering your colour choices so far my top suggestion would be...

Paint the wings a deep, salmony colour highlighted up to the same shade of pink you\'re using for the flesh shading. That should work quite nicely.

Other suggestion would be...

Pale Blue. Should contrast nicely. If you get the shade of blue just the same as the flesh it should compliment nicely.

One of the strength\'s of Sivousplay\'s work is that he changes colours but keeps the them at the same level as not to create too much contrast which would hurt his figures.

I like the salmon pink idea alot, will give it quite a warm feel. Next question then, seeing as I am really no good when it comes to this bit.......

How do I make a nice salmon pink colour? (I have the full game colour range if that helps :D)

Thanks,

Shaz

Hmmm..

I think I would go for an opalescent off-white, perhaps ivory, but distinguishing from the flesh by the sheen. A mother-of-pearl effect would also look good, but...easier said than done:D

I have a pearlescent medium, I could add that into the highlight colour on the wings.....

I haven\'t used any of these new mediums yet, but I am eager to try. You\'d have to test out the effect first of course...

First post here. :)

Anyway...

A nice light pastel purple would be my suggestion. Would give a bit of contrast to the skin, but could still tie into the lighter colour choice you wanted.

... can\'t miss answering my favorite coolminiornotter who shares a name with my cat ;)

I\'d say, go for purple. Even if it\'s a pale shade, it will be a nice accent. You could also look at haley\'s works; she usually uses pale, desaturated colours and they always look great.

Margo : Its nice to know I have a fan :D

Everybody, thanks for the colour tips - she\'s currently sitting in Nitromors because I was too impatient in my layering on the body and she sort of got the miniature equivalent of sunburn - peeling badly.

I\'m now going to make some colour cards and see what I like !

Surreal moment...

I pulled this thread up, and of course my eye was drawn to Epoch\'s bootie shaking avatar.

At the same moment T-Rex\'s \"Bang a Gong\" was playing on the radio.

I stared transfixed, for several minutes as the avatar was dancing, IN PERFECT BEAT, to the song....

My personal little music television moment.....

now back to our regularly scheduled forum....;)
