Hmm.. I don\'t watch much television anymore, but used to be quite into the Simpsons, Fawlty Towers (VHS), Mr Bean, and some others..

Why Hugh Laurie tries to put on an American accent in his recent stuff completely mystifies me. It sounds so incredibly fake and I\'m British. I dread to think what it sounds like to real Americans.

Actually, it\'s dead-on. lol

I\'ve been watching a British Sit-com recently....

I like quirky, irreverent and clever stuff (not necessarily all at the same time)

IT Crowd
QI
Nevermind the Buzzcocks
Monty Python
Anything by/with Spike Milligan
Harry Hill\'s TV Burp

I actually prefer radio comedies nowadays like

I\'m Sorry I Haven\'t A Clue
That Milton Jones Show
The Smith Lectures

Infidel Castro

I have to point out two that seem to have passed under the radar and are up there with the best satire and spoof TV ever:

The Day Today
Brass Eye

Classic The Day Today HERE

Classic Brass Eye HERE

Enjoy!

I\'m utterly dismayed at the lack of Canadian comedies listed so far (only one I noticed was Red Green Show). But I suppose we aren\'t well known for our tv/movie export abilities.

Canadian sense of humor tends to be rather dry, not unlike the Brits. I don\'t often go for the American \'in your face\' comedy styles except for:

Simpsons
South Park
My Name is Earl
Three\'s Company (but only for John Ritter)

Some great Canadian classics I like(d) include:

Four on the Floor (The Frantics)
Red Green Show
Trailer Park Boys
This Hour Has 22 Minutes
Airfarce
Smith and Smith
Alan Thicke Show (technically a talk show but funny)
Kids in the Hall

British comedies are often good for a hoot, especially:

Are You Being Served
Mr. Bean (but only when he doesn\'t talk)
Dame Edna (spotlight thingies, I suppose not a series)
The one I can\'t remember the name of (with Mr. and Mrs. Bucket... Err, Bouquet)

In actual fact I don\'t much watch comedy TV shows anymore except for Simpsons and South Park. It\'s been a while since any good ones have been on with any regularity.

Dame Edna is Australian, although I suppose some shows were made in the UK.

The one you\'re trying to remember is Keeping Up Appearances.

Well dang, most of the Dame Edna shows I\'ve seen were likely from UK then but I always figured I knew the difference in accents. Shame on me. Still funny as hell though.

Thanks also for the Keeping Up Appearances name drop. Far to often I forget the name of something and it drives me nuts till I figure it out.

Lets not forget Ab Fab.
Oh please let\'s forget it - I never really got found it that funny but I\'m pretty sure I\'m in a minority there
No you\'re not.
Watched several of them. Never even raised a smile.

One comedy that hasn\'t been mentioned is \"The Likely Lads\".

But like others:
Most Ronnie Barker comedies, Porridge, Going Straight, Open all Hours. (Not The Two Ronnies, where he had to carry the dead weight of Ronnie Corbett)
Vicar of Dibley,
Father Ted
Only Fools and Horses.
Doctor Who lol.

And from the US
Weeds.

Here\'s a list of other Brit sitcoms and sketch shows. It\'s nort a list of my favourites as those have probably mostly been mentioned already.

Dad\'s Army
Citizen Smith
Three Up, Two Down
Goodnight, Sweetheart
Brushstrokes
The Upper Hand
Morecombe and Wise
Not The Nine O\'Clock News
Not Only, But Also
The Goode Life
Ever Decreasing Circles
Yes, Minister (and Yes, Prime Minister)
Butterflies
Jam
2 point 4 children
It Ain\'t Half Hot, Mum
Sorry!
To The Manor Born
The Likely Lads
Some Mother\'s Do \'ave \'em
The Goodies
The Liver Birds (pronounced as in alive and not the organ liver)
Rising Damp
The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin
My Hero
Trigger Happy T.V.
Bo Selecta

Those are the ones I can think of right now.

There may be someone\'s favourites amongst those.

EDIT: It took that long to do the list that DR beat me in mentioning The Likely Lads.
