i was reading through a thread c'tan on drugs and someone mentioned a comic book character "slaine" this started my ocd on overdrive, i spent most of the night going over in my mind the really oldies but goldies that used to provide me with entertainment during my far distant youth.
now im not too sure if these comics were available outside the uk so her goes anyway.

here's what i know so far the comics original name was STARLORD it then changed to STARLORD/TORNADO then TORNADO/2000 AD and is currently 2000AD.
some of the old characters that dont make an appearance anymore are

ace trucking
dr and quinch
savage
flesh
mach 10
strontium dogs
the stainless steel rat

there are several ones that i cant remember the titles but can remember characters and some of the story lines so feel free to join in befor i go totally bonkers

theres one the main character is a man in a black leather jacket the narrative is he's a time cop they are based in the jurrassic era and go round stopping criminals changing the timelines.

another one is about the bermuda triangle some kind of dimensional doorway to another world you follow the survivers as they are hounded by headless acid spitting creatures land pirates and some crazy ghengis khan dude on an elephant.

theres another one were a chap ends up in a world where animals have been crossed with humans to create slaves one of the characters is a minotaur the others a cat woman and they lead some kind of revolution

theres one the story is like that of roller ball different teams etc

thers another with some nubian guy who has a sword that doesnt just kill you it drains your soul whoooo! i think he ends up fighting in a far future arena fighting giant alien bunny/cat thingy's

anyone out there can name them and shame them?

i also believe that first edition starlords thats the one with the big alien in a red/silver space suite on the cover, oh yes and the 1 in the top corner are worth a bob or two, anyone now how much they are now?

Sorry to be picky dude, but your timeline is a little off, 2000AD has been 2000AD all along, the other comics were independent publication from the same publishing house that were merged into 2000 AD

Banzai Battalion. Anders, PSI Division. Dredd of course, but that goes without saying. Nikolai Dante. SKIZZ! Sinister Dexter. Button Man. Wardog.

Scuse me, I think I need to go spend a month re-reading my collection.

Problem is, you'd be lucky to get that now, the UK comic market collapsed on itself a few years back and still hasn't recovered, no one is buying collections for anything near their worth this side of the pond.

But I will have a look for you.

As I expected, it's not nearly so generous at the moment, even if it's pristine, according to this site you would be lucky to get $40 which is a bit less then £30.

Sit on it for now mate, there can't be that many floating around, just wait untill the market changes again.

Does anyone still have any of the figures from the 2000AD comic stories? I know that there were Judge Dread figures complete with bikes and some robot minis (ro busters I think) I picked up a copy of the Rogue trooper game a few years back at a car boot sale and still have one undamaged trooper ready to paint (the others all lost the tips off thier guns)

They were produced by Citadel, I believe, then I think Mongoose did some, but Foundry (If you can stomach the prices) does some now.

you now the old saying if you dont like the answer dont ask the question...tru wonder what my aliens comics are worth? 4 comic set story tells how the aliens are found(as in the film) then goes on to give the story of the earth being overrun then the usual last ditch attempt find the aliens home world and destroy it but not before the big reveal..... the giant aliens as seen on the original movie use the aliens to clean out planets ready for them to settle on it was all a trap planned from the start.

i paid a hundred quid for em

Actually, you might have a bit more luck with them fella, they were printed by Dark Horse I think, fairly early on, plus they are in the american format, so you'd have access to the overseas market.
I'd wait till another alien movie pops up (bound to be one shortly) then have a look on fleabay to see what the going rate is.

That is if you were going to sell them.

All modern age ones yes, I think the silver and golden age ones were a bit different and there was the odd 80pg giant specials which were a larger size I believe.
But here's something for you to chew on, the paper sizing we are used to, A4, A3 A2, etc, isn't used in the US.
