Hi Folks,

Been a long time since i put anything up here, life has been a bit mental of last year or so!

Anyway, i decided to pick up my brushes again and crack on with single figures to up my detail painting and skills as they had got a bit rusty, and used to army paining.

So i had this on my shelf in just undercoat, so i had a crack at doing him in a scheme i will use on my space hulk terminators i have awaiting.

My main issue is i cannot seem to get the camera (D-SLR) to keep the whole model in focus, i have it set on ISO 100, manual focus and f22 f-stop, but i cannot get the tip of the gun in focus when the face is in focus as you can see, any help there.

All comments welcome, criticism is best way to learn

Looks great, I always have trouble with my photos. Ive just realised that photography and painting are two DIFFERENT things!

I am doing a few tutorials with a friend on a local forum to up my shading and blending a bit.

Photography wise i may have to mine the relevant section of this very forum

My highest score was a 7.2, so the aim is to beat this, but at the moment this figure is sitting at 6.8-7.0 so i think getting the camera sorted would edge him up a bit

Looks very decent. I'd say it would help to crop your pics a bit tighter as well.

Yeah i usually use a printed mottled background then crop but photoshop was being odd and i had to use the original pictures rather than the cropped multi one of the image i posted later on the submissions section.

Onwards and upwards though, working on a cold one dark elf rider standard bearer

I'd suggest (if possible) setting for Spot focus and reset the F-stop to F16. (F22 isn't always the best quality depth of Feild on lenses in Macro work)
You'll need to adjust your camera down so that the back plane is parallel to the figure and adjust the distance between camera and figure to get best "sharpness".
Thankfullt it's digital and not film you're shooting.

I checked the camera last night, it was set at f3.2..doh!

Sorted it out and used it on my new cold one, pictures are a lot better with correct depth of field.
