So you have two wooden disks. Are they suppose to rotate or do you want a comment on the shape of the plinth?

If so then they are very round and wooden I like them.

I\'m assuming you\'ve rounded the 2 pieces - good job. I also assume that the 2 pieces are attached via a spindle of some kind. Is the base going to be powered so that the top piece rotates on it\'s own?

Looks like it could do with a little more finishing as some areas still look a little rough. Are you planning to stain the plinth or paint it black? If you are going to stain it I\'d recommend doing a few colour tests too and getting feedback on those.

One thing that may be worth considering is that a lot of folks like to put name plates on the plinth, and this design isn\'t necessarily going to make that as easy as it could be. Perhaps an option to have the front filed down so there is a flat section for a name plate would be worth putting in the plans.

What kind of spinning mechanism are you going to add to it? Some sort of battery operated gizmo beneath it? Perhaps do some research into the best rotation speed for optimum viewing, or is that getting a little too in depth? Nah, it\'s not I don\'t think. They\'d like that kind of attention to detail. Do some tests on people looking at a mini spinning at different speeds and see which one is the overall ideal!

Just got home from school and i made another practice model this one explains better how i wanted it to look

the big hole in the top is where the turning gizmo will be going and will be covered with a thin sheet of wood which will be rotating

Did you guys all have to take tech? ??? I\'m not doing any tech at all. Nice job on the plinth so far, it\'s a nice shape.

I used to teach Technology! :)

Keep making those models and taking lots of pics. Lots of quick sketches to show how your ideas are developing as well.

Looking good so far. Use sanding sealer and fine grit glasspaper on your plinth before you take it off the lathe. Whack some oil (walnut oil is lovely stuff) or polyurethane on it to get it really spangly.
