Dr. Bob

but not THAT Dr. Bob
Hi! It\'s been a long time since I\'ve posted anything on CMON. I hope everyone is doing well!

Here\'s a standing Tiriel:

The metallics came out disappointingly grainy. It could have been my primer, but could it also have been that I thinned my paints too much? (I used Vallejo water-soluble metallics.)

p.s. Is it just me or has the site noticably slowed down?

Glad to see you back!

As always, a nice solidly painted mini! I really love this particular sculpt, too. The base is really nice. Other than the slight graininess of the metalics, as you\'ve already mentioned, I see no major flaws. THe face looks really nice, too. It\'s funny, but it seems that sometimes closed eyes can be more difficult to pull off well than open ones ???

Oh, and to answer your question: Yes, it does seem that the sights slowed down noticably as of late :(

yup, it\'s slower.
Nice piece. Always like your stuff.
I sometimes get that effect too, and don\'t have any suggestions how to avoid it. I get it from a spray primer creating that rough texture. I try to brush primer any showcase pieces.

Slower indeed....

....I never get bored of seeing this figure!(and the kneeling version of course) I\'ve looked at quite a few of them over the last couple of days and this is a good one :D I like the choice of hair colour,I think this and black are my favorites, cheers:D

Nice one.
Nice figure ,nice painting.

And yes the site is slow. Its as quick on my brothers dial up as it is on my broadband.:(

Very nice looking Dr Bob. I really like the the hair and the face. The armour does appear a little grainy, but that could be jst beacause she has not polished it in a while. :D

It\'s good to see that the some \"familiar faces\" (now all posting freaks I see!) and some new ones too.

I wonder if there\'s any way to \"smooth\" out a grainy priming job?

This is of course a great miniature, and you have her looking good. I agree with the rough feel of the metalics, issues like that is the reason I brush on primer every piece i do. Also I think the base is a little too simple for my liking, it isn\'t bringing much to the model.

:)

That\'s a good point. I\'m not very good with my bases. I saw several Tiriels on flagstone, and Klute had a very cool base. Maybe after I varnish mine I\'ll add some static grass or something.

Good stuff. It\'s nice to see real metallic. As far as the graininess, I like it. It gives it a heavier, tougher look which is a good contrast to the fine lass.

Looks good to me, I agree the metallics are grainy and the site is slower. Looks good though :D

Andy, the agree-able

@Shawn R. L. - Thanks for making me feel better about the metallics. Instead of a flaw, I\'ll look at the grainy texture as a \"feature.\" :D

@donga666 - I love your avatar. Totoro rocks!
