Hi Guys,

I recently tried some NMM on a dwarf.... he isnt really complete yet, but I\'d like some comments on how he can be improved.

Hi
the way you go is right I think try to make the axe a bit brighter where it fit at the shaft and apply some diagonal reflectionlines on the Axeleaf

Try thinning your paint a bit more, I can still see some very obvious brushstrokes on the axe blade... Good job overall.

thanks for the comments guys I kinda was wondering if the colour for the NMM might be a little off....:p er.... cos the blade seems rather blue to me although thats roughly the same shade as that used on some minis with NMM

My comments...

I myself painted numerous dwarves (after all, I have a \"stupid\" dwarf army that kept losing).

I am not good at NMM yet and hence, can\'t seem to provide any constructive comments on it. Try looking that how the experts do it and gain insight from them (Eg. Arjay, Honda, Bobby Wong, ...)

However, one thing of note, your colour scheme.

Another thingie, I believe the armour is definitely off. I don\'t know if you\'re trying to paint it to be bronze armour or somewhat but the colour isn\'t right. And your sleeves is done in the same NMM as the helmet. Er...is it suppose to be metal too?

Hi Mouse,

thanks fur ya comments......:)

actually the armour was supposed to be kinda rough and beaten gold/brass, youknow the sort that you get when you have been polishing brass too much and it has seen lots of wear, tear and dents that have been knocked back into shape....

the sleeve is supposedly not NMM but pure red leather.... or some brown cloth.... I admit I arent great at dwarves nd this one got be stumped for a long time.

First of all, that\'s a cool fig. Second of all, I like the metal thus far. I am not good at NMM yet. I did an Orc\'s chainmail and it came out like your axe. I too thought it was too blue. Blue metal like that looks too magic, too much like something an elf would use. However, it looks good. I keep going back and forth between changing my orc\'s chainmail and keeping it as is.

I think, from this angle anyway, the leather sleeves are lost to the viewer. They just look redish-brown.

The pants look good. The shoes look good. The gold trim on the helmet could probably use a little more highlighting.

One thing that might really enhance the NMM is a metal sheild. Perhaps if you added a nice shield in with a bronze center, like his breast-plate, and some blue trim, like the axe and helm, it might tie it all together. But it also might obstruct everything. What do I know?

hey barkel thanks for ur comments.......
I dont think its possible to add a shield and I think the owner likes his dwarf the way it is......

I\'ll see what I can do to make the NMM more metallic lookin...... will post more minis that are done in the style

(PS: don\'t tell BME or else he\'ll ask them to do \"terrible\" thingies)

how u liking my little hamster avatar?? Their furry self and all too BIG nose drives me up the wall every time (however, don\'t ever... i mean ever... let them near your minis or paint....they tend to chew on them! Phew!!)

Will ur avatar be your pet cat too??

Quite sad that they\'re culling cats here...

yeah the talisman plastic figs were based on old mini designs that came out in metal some time ago..... I noticed that the plastic talisman elf archer was based on the metal mini of a gw wood elf archer.... I know it cos I own that particular metal mini....
