Comments on miniatures

Isn\'t it interesting that people are very quick in praising all the good miniatures but average miniatures (especially between 6 and 8) rarely ever get a comment although they\'d profit more from a few comments and critiques than the 9.5ers from praise? ;)

Human nature I am afraid...

If you park up a Ferrari, people will stop and look, if you\'ve got an old Ford like me no one gives you a second glance, apart from the traffic warden.

There is also the statistical issue. there are a couple of hundred 9.5ers, if that.
If you think that there are over 19,000 minis on this site and just about 20-30 people who regularly bother to give comments......What is likely to happen.

The best way to get comments is to give them yourself as people generally reciprocate. :D

people need to be a bit more vocal

If the poster asks for a comment and none has yet been given I will comment every single time. All other situations are dependant on my mood.

As for getting comments when you feel your mini is being over-looked, I think people need to come to the forums and ask. It is very easy for new minis to slip by and not get rated for days. I posted my minis well over two months ago (I think :duh:) and only 1 of 6 has more than 50 votes. But, because I descretely asked on the forums, I got several comments.

I have no problem at all with people asking, \"comment on my mini, please.\" I will check out every single mini they\'ve posted and comment on as many as I feel comfortable doing. I don\'t think anyone really minds this. But with all the minis out there, if you don\'t shoot off a flare you\'re gonna get lost in the sea.

Well Said, Mr. Barkel....

I like leaving comments as well, and I do quite a bit. You might want to check out the Comment a Day Campaign thread that was started a while back. It addresses similar concerns.

But, also, as Finn sez about reciprocating, that may be the best way to get comments. You scratch my mini\'s back and I\'ll scratch yours (figuratively speaking).....lollol

There are minis and there are mini-minis. You are good at both. You excell, I think, at mini-minis. Your Warmaster stuff is awesome. Very good detail for stuff so tiny. Your Warhammer stuff is also good. The slan looked quite good, but a little fuzzy. I\'d probably have given him an 8 with a better pic. The vamp, however, seemed a bit thick. Her paint job seemed a little thick on the skin and the leggings. The rest seemed fine. It also seemed like her skin and leggings lacked definition or highlights. Some great minis though.

Thank you for your comments.
The skin is usually not as purple - it\'s closer to white. Somehow the compression of a jpg screws it, I think.

Alas, I usually only comment on mini\'s if I actually have something constructive to say. Sadly this doesn\'t happen a lot as I can only give advice on something I do better, which is not often the case.
