Hi All,

here\'s my newest mini.... I did a few experiments on how to do better metallics. The sword and detail on the back of the cloak are done in full metallic paint believe it or not :D

What d ya all think of it?

Tabithan:
Just had a quick look it seems ok but I could do with a bigger image to see the details better.

Kinda difficult to see the pattern on the back.
The swords look like NNM, which hurts my brain, why would you make metallics look like they aren\'t metallic? I think my head is gonna explode.

Nice looking mini though. :)

Very cool. I agree the metallics look more nmm to me. I like the frehand work and the face is really nicely done.

Hi all,

thanks for the comments ....
hmmmm the problem with metallics is that after playing around with them loads so that you get metallics that arent so shiny they detract from the shape of the weapon, there\'s still a huge problem about how lay down the paint on them correctly so that it shows off the best qualities of the medium....

I\'ll still be experimenting a little more to see how I can come up with a really good solution to the problem.

Trevor:
heh heh I guess I am still trying out the paints.... That they still ended up looking like NMM means I probably have a long way to go before I get a really really good looking metallic blend. :p

not so shiny?

What are you doing to your metallics that dulls them and why?
I will soon have a mostly-metalic mini posted here that may not be a fine piece of work, but I think I did a good job, especially on the axe, making it look like a real axe and all I used was Boltgun metal, Mithril Silver and Vallejo Silver. I think you can achieve what you want without having to dull down metalics.

I like it, especially the design on the cloak, it looks confusing on the bottom of the cloak. But it is a very nice touch.

Hi Vince,

drop me a mesg when ya metallic mini goes up... would luv to see it..... :)

I painted a figure recently with loads of metal armour... it was interesting, but the shiny metallic paints somehow didnt bring out the shape of the armour and detracted away from it.... in the end I had to dull down the metals somehow and it made the armour stand out more.....

its still an idea I am still playing around with as I paint each mini.
