Comments requested on two minis

I like them, but for photography there isn\'t much contrast. Maby you should make your highlights brighter. The dwarf looks very cool, the skin looks well painted. I also like your base, the one with a dash of oregano.

I think those paintjobs are very good, but the miniatures themselves will block your way to a higher ranking. Try your skills at a more complex mini, and pay some more attention to the base and then I\'m sure you\'ll get an 8 pretty soon

Gerrie\'s right...

Both those minis are self-limiting. ie they have a ceiling score that even the \'Gods\' would find difficult to break through.

Skeleton:

Paint work is excelent. Mini is not great as has been mentioned. BUT: I am filled with a sense that something is wrong. After much study, I think I know what is wrong.

Dead old skeleton with rusty axe. has shiney shoulder pad (? pointy thing). Clean bone face (all flesh gone) with pretty hair flowing behind (flesh ok under hair). Tattered dirty tunic with spotless clean belt. They just don\'t go together in my head. Most of this is out of your hands as it is the fault of the sculpt.

Maybe I am being overly picky here?

Dwarf:
Camera angle is wrong I want to look down that bolt with his eyes staring the camera down.

overall
Good quality gaming pieces. Probably better than you will find at most tables.

Nice stuff !
I just would like to add that Citadel sand looks much much better painted. Putting it on before you prime, prime and then painting it is what I always do. Oregano\'s a nice touch :)

but not THAT Dr. Bob
Thanks for the comments and the excellent advice!

@Corvus and finn17 - you guys are right. I guess I\'m still afraid of messing up a really cool mini, so I keep \"practicing\" on my Chainmail minis. Actually, I find Rackham minis and Werner Klocke\'s minis pretty intimidating, with all of their detail.

@MoM and Calavera - What? Are you guys saying that you don\'t appreciate my \"natural style\" of highlighting and basing? Just kidding, I will work on punching them up more.

@airhead - Oh, the \"shiny shoulder pad\" is actually the head of a spear that\'s been thrust all the way through his ribcage (can\'t tell easily from this angle). You know how skeletons get DR from piercing weapons, blah blah blah. And the belt used to be white. Yeah, that\'s the explanation...

I like the Orc skeleton quite a bit, actually. The colors you\'ve chosen are a good match, and it\'s painted very cleanly. Left a comment on the pic for ya.

The dwarf, in my opinion, isn\'t quite as well done. It seems to lack some definition, but this could be the photo. Left a comment there, too.

Do the minis really look like on the photos because I think both the pics have a red tinge.
You have used lots of earthy tones and there\'s just some contrast missing, such as blue or green.

ceiling....

I slightly disagree with my esteemed co-posters about the sculpts being too plain.

I think you have done wonderful work on the orc skeleton, and it is a very interesting character.

but not THAT Dr. Bob
@supervike and finn17 - You guys are hilarious. lol

@Gypsy - Actually, I think the minis do actually look that way. Everytime I start a mini I plan to try some bold colors, but I always end up painting everything red-brown. :(
