[Commission] Space Wolves army

Hi there, people of CMON! I very very rarely post here but I figured it's time to change that. So here's my first painting log on CMON and like most of the stuff I post, it's commission work. It's a whole army of Space Wolves Space Marines. I started working on it around August 14th and luckily got a rather big chunk done already but there's still a lot coming up.

So here's what's happened so far:

Grey Hunters Pack #1:

Grey Hunters Pack #2:

Grey Hunters Pack #3:

Grey Hunters Pack #4:

Here's a picture of the special weapons guys with their arm varients (magnetized so you can switch the weapon loadouts):

Each of the Grey Hunters packs has a Rhino to go with that can also be changed into a Razorback with Lascannon/twinlinked plasmaguns:

Wolf Scouts:

Wolf Guard in Power Armour:

A single Wolfguard dude (this picture only happened because my client wanted to have a closer look at one of the bases and I like that one guy's pose a lot):

Upcoming things:
3 Runepriests (two of them almost finished)
2 Wolf Lords on Thunderwolves
4 Tunderwolf Cavalry
15+ Fenrisian Wolves
2 Land Speeders
10 Wolf Guard Terminators with various weapon loadouts

Hope you like the stuff that's been finished already and stay tuned for the upcoming units.

Thanks for looking; comments and critique are highly welcome!

Loving the Space Wolves, I like the darker approach that your going for, as opposed to the standard lighter codex style. Your client must be very pleased with the results so far.

Keep the pics coming! =D

Edit: The only thing that comes to mind when I come back and look at the pics, is that maybe some different gray tones could be used on the main armor? I'm not sure if this is the right way to put it, but looking at the Grey Hunters Pack #1, the main armor looks a little "flat" even with the extreme highlights. Maybe use more mid tone between the darker and lighter extremes or something?

@skraaal: Thanks for the input. :) You're right, I'm not entirely happy with the armour either. The armour on the minis I did later (did the Grey Hunters first)) like the Scouts, Long Fang pack 3 and so on are a bit lighter on the more exposed parts.

@littlewolf1176: Thanks muchly. ;)

Doop-de-woop, update:

Didn't get all that much done today so far. Planning to finish these Landspeeders tomorrow and do some other stuff.

See you tomorrow at the latest!

Coool! Is the wolf scratchbuild? Looks way better than those I saw from GW. The head looks almost cute, a bit like the husky "balto" ;-) But that is not a bad thing in my opinion, it makes him look more "real" than those freakish GW creatures.. And I guess the impression will change somewhat when the teeth are painted and more prominent. Maybe he needs something on his rear to balance those huge pieces of armour? but what do I know, beeing a conversion-noob and all :)
Really exited for umdates!

I believe that SW has a much lighter gray then yours but in the arctic climate and sky light it looks light blue, so depending on weather/time on what colour the armour have .. but that's just a theory of mine that I can't prove... still I like the blue ones^^.

@freakinacage: He expressed that he's pleased with the results. :)

@Ulrik the Slayer: Absolutely understandable. Most of the times, I do as well but then I figured people would like to see something different for once, given how many people moan about the 'eavy Metal scheme. It's also always to one's advantage not having to compete with the 'Eavy Metal team by using the same colour scheme. But I agree with you, I like the original scheme very much as well.

@Chrome: True. ;)

@Wicksy: At least that's one way to look at it. A less "in character" one would be that "pre heresy" stuff (like "true scale") is a fad that hopefully will be over some time soon. :p

@Paandrik: :D A daring theory.

And here's the update! Well, not that much of an update really...but I got new pictures at least! :)

Apart from that, I have to apologize to the cheap-o Revell airbrush gun. A few weeks ago, I more or less called it a useless piece of junk that doesn't work. I have to retract the "useless" part. It's really useful for varnishing a lot of miniatures at once. Tears through your paints but gets the job done quickly.

Speaking of airbrush matters, my new moisture trap/pressure regulator arrived. Works fine now and the whole thing is almost airtight now. Woohoo!

Anyway, thanks for looking. C&C welcome as well!

Alrighty, something new on the Space Wolves front:

twip3.jpg

The first five Terminators are about 70% finished. Not sure, maybe I need to redo the power weapons completely which would be very annoying but I'm afraid I messed those up a bit. Tried something new and I think I have to work on that technique a bit more.

Wolf Scouts are in the Works as well, three Thunderwolf Cavalry and a Hero of Wolf Guard on Thunderwolf are finished.

...and here's the new stuff!

Wolf Scouts (now twice as Space Barbarian-esque!) with two mission objective markers:

The second Wolf Lord:

It's really nice how this one looks very different to the first Wolf Lord.

So, that's tonight's update. I hope you like it. :) C&C highly welcome.

Impressive stuff mate. I'm particularly liking the red blades. they add a nice contrast and seem extremely well done.

As usually great work, I don't even play space wolves and these make me want to have you paint me up and army.

@Empchild: Thanks for the compliment. :)

Update!

Markers are finished (only need a bit of snow on the bases):

Wolf Scouts WIP:

Me, being a genius amongst men, didn't take proper notes on how I painted the first squad of Wolf Scouts but I'm pretty sure I know how I did what. Let's hope it's accurate. :p
