guild wars: a free MMORPG.

Its good by yourself, but the guilds are what really make this a great game. If you prefer PvP, go for factions, PVE, go for nightfall. I have all 3 of the campaaigns.

And it is awesome.

but if you get guild wars, PM me, and I\'ll help get you into a guild.

Crossfire is pretty awsome.. its like counterstrike but basically they just keep adding stuff all the time.. and its free... and the graphics are better..

You can pay small amount extra for cool stuff...

But basically its only going to get bigger and better...

In terms of online play (and offline, if you don\'t mind the stupid AI too much) BF2 is hard to beat. One of the, if not the, most popular army sims for good reason. It\'s a bit old now but still great fun to play and looks sweet if you have hardware with grunt and can turn all the graphics options up high. Now has both the original mode with vehicles and one for infantry-only play if you prefer that.

There are some golden oldies reboxed out for cheap at the moment from Sold Out Software that would keep you occupied for, I don\'t know, a few years at least! Civilisation Complete, Heroes IV, Stronghold 2, Pirates!, Grand Theft Auto III, a couple of the Lemmings games in the same box and last but not least Sim City 4: Rush Hour. They\'re being sold here @ 3 for 15, which is just an amazing bargain given how much gameplay they\'ll give.

And I know you asked us not to but commiserations anyway.

PC Games.

I just got a new fully loaded PC and 23 inch screen a week and a half ago and have started playing games. I bought Call Of Duty \'World at War\' and am totally addicted to playing this online! It rocks!

One game I\'d suggest is Manhunt. I\'ve never played it, but it sounds cool. I can\'t find it in the stores over here, so I\'m in the process of downloading it at present. Don\'t tell anyone. Here\'s a link to it.

EArkham

Necromancer
If you\'re into the mod scene at all, NeoTokyo is fun:

As is Zombie Panic! Source:

Very different gameplay styles, but both are high quality projects.

I like Mount & Blade, been playing for years through the various Beta stages. Run around on horseback & slaughter lots of troops. Free trial download up to level 6, which might leave you frustrated at only just getting to the point where you can win combats against more than 2:1 odds but a decent enough sense of the game to decide whether or not to purchase. I have managed to take over the whole map but haven\'t played since, I tend to play intensely for a few months then have to have a similar period of time away from games. All the better for my painting practise lol B.

Ah man, those were good times. That game was great for it\'s time. Wish I knew where my copy was. I do have the newest version, Rise of an Empire and Settlers 6 Gold, those are crap compared to the classic!

While it\'s not a FPS, it should be a game that is near and dear to many a heart in these forums:

It\'s a pretty accurate translation of the tabletop game. In fact, even though it has a \"real time\" mode, I\'ve never played it that way.
