Competition: Human nature or just a boy thing

I have noticed of late a very disturbing habit of mine. Just about everything I do now seems to end up in a competition. I started using the forums and after awhile notice the post count and monica (newbie) So I decided to get my 10 posts and then 50 and now 100. I found out how to put my score in my signiture and now I want to get it up there. Summer started and along with it the flys. So a comp started to see who could kill the most and so and so on.

Is this human nature. natural selections way of making sure we have the survival instict and what it takes to carry on. Are chicks impressed by this?

Anyway a bit of trivia. besides its Sunday. Im hung over and feeling sorry for myself and wanted some free therapy. Or is this just a way to get to 100 posts.

Maybe people just like to be noticed. have a good weekend.

I\'m VERY competitive by nature, and I was an asshole about it for a long time... not good. (definately didn\'t impress chicks :p)

At a certain point I realized that really was not doing me any good, my focus was just off. Eventually I learned that the real competition was with my self. It wasn\'t about beating others, it was about bettering myself. This has turned into ambition now, and have helped me achieve what I have so far in life.

Of course I have my outbursts of being an asshole competitor from time to time (which can result in me starting threads that end up getting very locked). But no ones perfect!

however, post count, not the best thing to compete with...

I think everyone is competitive in something. I am not a competitive gamer,but I get very competitive in training anything physical,esp. boxing and martial arts.I didn\'t used to be competitive in painting,but being here made me so. Mostly to get better.

It is human nature to compete, to strive, to be the best. Man\'s ego won\'t let him be less, even if it\'s at something trivial.

Males tend to be more competetive than women, though one could argue that women are equally competetive in different areas...

Spandex being a good example... but I digress...

Are women attracted to men at their most competetive? Some are. But more, I think, are attracted to men despite this trait.

Men, including myself, are, for the most part, idiots. For proof of this, just look at how many still think, after decades of being told the opposite, that driving down the street and barking like a dog at a pretty woman seen walking will attract her interest...

Still, it is definitely a step up from clubbing them over the head and dragging them back to the cave...

I\'m not at all competitive painting-wise, but sports-wise I can be a machine. Particularly when i play football. I make sure I can run for the full 90 mins and hold my own patch really well, tackling till I drop. Not headless chicken stuff, but rather quite focussed. I love taking a player out the game legitimately, by cowing him and making him anonymous. I like cycling too, which is more of the \'in your head\' stuff. I like pedalling non-stop. It can hurt though :D

LOL - Barking? I\'ve not seen/heard that one before! Anyway wouldn\'t that be an insult, indicating that if she responded she\'d be a dog?

This actually reminds me of a Seinfeld routine:

I think women are competitive too - we just tend to be more subtle about it. When we\'re not we\'re called b$tches! :D

I also think that at some point a lot of \"forum go-ers\" have been bitten by the \'up-my-post\' bug. At least when they first join the forums. It usually subsides when you realize that you do have a life outside the forums. lol

I shall have to explore this heretofore unexplored thing called life.

Maybe I\'ll take my wife with me, too. She might like that.

@Naukhel - there\'s even something called \"Nature\" out there, in particular, flowers. Pick some and give them to your wife and see what happens...;)

I\'ve tried that. My landlord gets mad at me for ruining his garden, and things go down hill from there.

I saw this add once and thought it hilarious:

First, there was pong
Then, there was Atari.
Then games became interactive with role playing.
Then there came virtual reality.
Now there\'s something even better: Real Reality!
Feel the wind in your face because it\'s actually windy!
Feel the ball in your hands because you\'re actually holding a ball!

That\'s all I recall. Ends with image of kid formerly staring vacantly at the tv now playing basketball outside.
