Complimentary Mini from GW?!?!

Okay, so my bitz from Games Workshop got here today, and first I noticed they changed their boxes so that you have to look at the return address to figure out it\'s from them (and I was sooo looking forward to my Rackham stuff) i.e, no trolls on the box.
But inside I found a small seperate baggie with a sister of battle (one with grenade in teeth) in it and a note saying \"Please enjoy this complimentary figure. It\'s our way of saying thatnks for being a great customer!\"...
I only bought around $20 worht of stuff to keep shipping low. I was unaware of any ad gimmicks, but with my insane membrane, I quickly formulate several possibilities:

1. GW is promoting Witchhunters. Simple as that, a Sis of Battle mini in every box ensure a massive swell in the wide eyed kid jumping up and down harrasing their folks for more minis..... which they won\'t paint.

2. GW is doing an unofficial skulz-like thing. Kinda like where you spend a certain amount and get free figures with points that Rackham does.. But they put the ole GW spin on in and use your points when they see fit on totally random figures.

3. GW is getting rid of their stock of older Sisters models, and this is the easiet way. (Couldn\'t give them away around here, but they\'re trying... :p )

4. GW saw who they were sending it to, knew my reputation and decided to bribe me to stop from making jokes at their expense... Well, they underestimate the power of honor and dignity! It\'ll take a lot more than one mini to sway me!! :D

Anyone else get a figure and/or have a conspiracy theroy, share with the group..

If you don\'t want it...

send it to me!!!!!!!

Personally Chrispy, I like the Sisters of Battle stuff both old and new. I do share your opinion at times about \"the evil Empire\" but come on, cut them a little slack!! I don\'t think you are special enough to have earned your own specific bribe, but if that is the case, I guess I haven\'t been complaining as well as you, if that is so, I bow to the master!!! Again, as much as I would like to throw mud on good old GW, I think this is a genuine nice thing, and if you or any other people here\\ hate the Sisters of Battle that much, let me know, I\'ll post my shipping address!!!!!

I got one too!

Yup, I ordered some books from the Black Library section of GW, when I got them there was a little mini in the baggie, with the exact card you got.

Except mine was a space marine Scout, and a very cool one at that!

It was a nice little touch!

No, braveheart, I will probably end up painting it and selling it on ebay for big bucks..
And when you get down to it, GW is not evil... but I question some of the staff\'s practices. lol

Nice thing to know, dunno if you know.
GW had to stop their skullz actions due to their license for LOTR, at least that is what I heard of someone who used to work for GW.

I got some kind of guy with an oriental weapon and a sign? He looks like a peasant holding a sign post or banner of some kind? Interesting gimmick. Foundry has been doing it for years.

You\'ve got to love GW. I\'m still working on the complimentary \'White Dwarf\' miniature I got when I joyfully purchased an issue of WD last year.

A few years ago now they sent out a slip to customers, don\'t know if it was for all customers, but everyone I knew at the local store got one.

The slip entitled you to a free blister of your choice, sweeeet :D

I\'ve gotten them too. They must know what you like to play, because I\'m a predominantly 40k player, so in the past 2 orders they\'ve sent me a Beastman Shaman, and then an Empire priest..... sigh.
Thanks, GW, a pleasant surprise, and a possible gateway/excuse to try out a new range of figs....

Unfair!

Well, you´re lucky, GW obviously doesn´t do it in Germany, as I fetched a set of bits I ordered via my local GW store tody (37 euro worth) and it there were exactely those bits i ordered - well, that isn´t bad either.

Perhaps I just like Gw to much for them wanting to bribe me. Anyway, Crispy, you seem a lucky guy, perhaps now you like the Nottinghammers a bit more now. If not, they´ll send you a land raider in the next box.:)

I would love to get a complimentary miniature, one that would tell me what a great job I was doing while I painted it and...

Oh, sorry, wrong interpretation :D

Freebies!

Well........are you sitting comfortably? Good, then I\'ll begin.

In a land far far far far far far away..... Tooshy decided to order some figs from GW. Her friend Tuubje (remember him???) also wanted some stuff. So in went the order and they eagerly awaited their stuff.

*ding dong* Ooooh! the posty! Tooshy ripped open package and lo and behold - lots of loverly bootie :D Then..... WFT?!?!? The bill was loads more than expected   Tooshy went all shades of pink and sent GW a :flame: mail. A few days later she got a reply which said \"Ooops our bad. Yup the prices are all wrong BUT if you look, we\'ve charged the whole order to GW customer services. So basically you got your whole order for free. Now is there anything else we can help with?\"

Tooshy thanked GW very much and lived happily ever after :D :bouncy: :flip:

PS Tuubje if you happen to read this - I promise to send the figures to you soon dear. Just been distracted recently :(

PPS The order was about £40 worth too

It\'s happened to me too. I went to the LA GT and ordered a huge buncha fantasy bits. Orc bits, giant bits, undead bits, you get the idea. My order comes and instead of some of the bits I wanted, I had like a dozen tank hatches. Just little round pieces of useless metal. I\'ve brainstormed for days about what I could do with them and still haven\'t come up with anything. Anwho, of course I called them up and laid into them. Any fool could see the theme of my order and if they just would have looked twice at the order #\'s......I didn\'t get my whole order for free (I guess they love Tooshy more than me) but they did expedite all my missing bits and let me add a fig that I had forgot to order at the GT. Yes I consider parts of GW to be the Evil Empire, but in situations where you just don\'t get what you paid for, they\'ve always come through. Yes, $40 for a box of 12 palstic core troop models is robbery, but I know what I\'m getting into and nobody is forcing me to do it. I\'ve also had 2 other times I\'ve bought a box of minis and 2 or 3 parts are missing or sub\'d with the wrong piece. They\'ve let me keep the box of 90% corect bits and sent me brand new full boxes for my troubles. Hooray for the customer service, boo to the ever rising prices and sales tactics which make it so you have to have a minimum buy in of a couple hundred bucks + just to get an army. If the game and models were any less cool........

Yep, I find GW\'s customer service is excellent for things like mistakes and missing parts. I once got 2 dragons for the price of one, but thats another story...

I once won a painting comp at the local Gw store, the prize was a boxed set of my choice. They had one of the warhammer fortressses (when it was £75), I pointed out that it was in a box and asked if I could have that.

They agreed lol

Not bad, eh :D
