P: Grit your teeth and say very nice and not buy it as you know that there\'s not enough painting time left, before you retire to complete what you\'ve already got!

Nah, that\'s far too responsible and level-headed! ;)

i agree with ritual. i find it easier to deal with guilt from buying something i shouldnt than temptation from not buying something i want!

Q: With a little of B: thrown in, justify it by the sheer amounts of money your wife throws at Starbucks every day, then buy it and sneak it in.

If you think I\'m kidding, you should see the 4 blisters of Iron Kingdoms minis I have currently in my \"work bag\" that will be snuck in later...lol

One of the good things with having a huge pile of unpainted minis is that no-one will notice if you sneak a few more mini in there. :D

Of course, when the pile eventually has doubled in size you\'re generally busted! :(

Haha :D

I could never do that you see, being 16 and all. I get scared spending more than £40 in a single moment on models

R Go with something specific in mind, like white paint. Keep \"white paint\" foremost in thoughts. Put blinkers on, ignore the shiny pretties, hear not the calls from the shelves. Their hearts are only lead, and cannot be broken, honestly.

S: Buy it, bring it home to put away, and realize you\'ve already bought one! Put it in the pile of \"things to paint & sell on ebay\" that will never again see the light of day, let alone a paint brush.

sigh. :)

T: Figure out what you can sell on eBay quickly to get money to buy this one more \"must have\" mini...

The place from whence I buy my minis has a program where you get an \"X\" on a card for every ten dollars that you spend within six months. When you get ten Xs, you get ten dollars off your purchase. Hierony-mrs. and I have gone back to the minis during check out a bunch of times saying, \"If we spend another twenty-seven bucks, we\'ll save ten dollars!\" Another example of \"the more you buy, the more you spend.\" This just makes our obsessions and compulsions harder to yield to.

I\'m more compulsive on the web than in the store. Typically in the store I\'m a man with a mission. Still I have had plenty of mini look at me and say \"bring me home and paint me.\" This proves beyond a doubt that lead has no smarts because no mini would ever look at me if it knew my painting ability. :duh:

Last year\'s Gen Con was pure impulse. Nothing says buy me more than cute. Light and Laser\'s flamingos (on skull bases no less) and unicorn and unicorn foul begged for me to purchase them, and I did. (The Money Machine was my best friend at Gen Con.)
