Good morning, this is Evalie Echt for GU2 (Global Universe 2)
The information is now official: every X-MT model (for Xeno Machine Tools) is to be retired from civilian use.
This is a very heavy blow for Bio-Tech, who invested millions of stellar-credits in Research & Development and who, at the time, advertised the X-MT as an industrial revolution for the good of the working masses.
Bio-Tech had designed this genetic model to adapt perfectly to highly hostile environments, to perform well in oxygen-poor atmospheres or to endure acid rains without the least discomfort. Everyone agrees this is an undeniable success, though they cannot but deplore the X-MT's tendency to slaughter the technicians it is supposed to assist.
For a long time, Bio-Tech refused to discuss these « malfunctions », labelling them as « isolated incidents with no real consequence on the overall program ».
Today however, legal actions and colossal damage settlements are forcing Bio-Tech to revise its communication policy... In short, the future of this company is in the hands of its lawyers...
Persistent rumours hint at a possible conversion of the X-MT to military use...
Should this occur, the nickname « Xenocide », given by the miners to the machine, may become their code designation.
