Hey all,
This is my dwarf warrior who walked away (much to my suprise) with a bronze at GDUK08. I\'m doing another large scale mini at the moment and could definately do with feedback on him before I get to the sculpting in earnest. Anything you have to say would be very much appreciated, thanks so much in advance, I am starved of critical eyes, so any thoughts are appreciated.

All the very best,

James Griffin

I saw this while wandering at GD, and tbh i dont know why you are so surprised i thought it to be a great piece and put it as a placing model (i chose unerringly accurate)

imho it gets across i nice feel of the dwarfish attitude, he looks grim as hell lol.

One thing though a few more pics would be nice

I guess you can see the little niggles that you didn\'t/couldn\'t fix and miss the overall effect. I certainly placed 1st and 2nd when I saw them! I\'ll get more pics up when I\'ve got my brother to show me how to get good pics of minis. He\'s a photographer by trade, and I don\'t even have an SLR, though I could do a passable job with my finepix jobby, and I will as soon as I pop back to my parents and pick up my battery charger! Until then these\'ll have to do.

Thanks, I was going for dour, but to have hit the dizzy heights of grim is even better!

I\'ve just invested in a 2000 point dwarf army, unpainted, so tell me..............
What did you do for the beard??

The paintjob looks very smooth and well done, but one thing is nagging me about the it- his hair, the helmet wings and the hammer head all look to be the same colour! I think if there was even just a subtle variation in the colours of each area, it would be even better. Still, I wouldn\'t want to meet him down a tunnel! :)

I like it very much to say the least - I\'m not fond of all the red noses dwarves seem to have at the moment - must be one serious epidemic - I guess that\'s all down to personal preference, but I\'d be more scared of running into a warrior with strong healthy look that one with a bad cold ( and yes I know there are several other ways you can get a red nose, thank you - none of them cool :p )

aww, thanks for all the comments!

@strybe: black undercoat, codex grey base, fortress grey drybrush, skull white line highlight, blue/black washes and a codex/fortress touch up. Who said drybrushing sucks \'ey? but then I highlight my metallics with non-metallics...oh dear...

@Amazon Warrior: You\'re absolutely right, I should have varied them a little to differentiate. Lesson learned, watch this space ;) Thanks for a most valuable piece of advice. It\'s the sort of thing I know but lose sight of when I\'m in the process of producing something, so thanks :)

@Manus: maybe next time I\'ll go the whole hog and use scenic water to model icicles hanging from his nose! lol! His face was so covered by beard/eyebrows/helmet that I wanted to draw the attention back to the face (you can see the eyes when you see the model \'in the flesh\'), so I warmed the skin tone in counterpoint to the armour/leather, and to complement the boots/trousers. I agree though, I\'d rather fight a diseased dwarf than a healthy one!

@SG2009: Thanks again, I know it isn\'t the best pic (my dkok are sitting around the 6/10 mark which i can\'t but help feel is a touch harsh-they\'re a little better than tabletop quality I think), but it\'s all I\'ve got access to. I have my camera up and running as of last night so future entries will be photographed myself (I can\'t rely on some helpful person taking photos randomly at some event for everything I do!)

Thanks again all, I\'m most appreciative!
