Contents of Decal Setting Solution

I bought a bottle of Badger Decal Setting Solution and thought it smelled funny. I asked my 6-year old go guess what it was and she said \"vinegar\". Have I been duped into paying $4 for something I have at home?

I remember once paying $5 for a small jug of \"aquarium\" salt to only to find out it\'s the same rock salt as the $3 for 50 lbs sack of OSH rock salt.

gussy, is there a list of ingrediants on the side?

Go to badgers website and see if you can find a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for the product. You may have to email them and ask for it.

The stuff from SolvaSet is vile - not sure what it is, but some good solvents in there.

Great idea. Also, as a marine biologist I can tell you aquarium salt is NOT the same thing. The differences are minute thou. Commercial salts for aquarium (like Instant Ocean) contains some other compounds (such as Calcium buffers, minerals, etc).

To start (prime) an aquarium I would recommend Instant Ocean... once it is stable, to upkeep your tank, you can use ANY salt.

I\'m not sure about the decal solution, but it maybe something like that. The MSDS would tell you. Please let us know!

You are talking about \"Salt Mix\" for salt water fish, but I\'m referring to \"aquarium salt\" for fresh water and brackish water...the ones you use to make brackish water. The sell those in the milk cartoon container.
