Contest Question...

So I\'ll be attending ReaperCon in May for the first time (at any convention) and I plan to enter several categories in the painting comp. In the official rules on the site it states that your entry cannot have appeared online or in major publications like magazines or have been entered in any previous competitions.

Here\'s my question: Does posting on the WIP forums here count as \"appearing online?\"

I haven\'t posted any of my comp work but I was thinking about it. Also would you guys consider it kinda cheating to get outside input into a comp entry? Just curious on these things.

I\'d ask over on the Reaper forums, Anne\'s pretty good about clarifying any questions regarding the contest. I think the idea is to make sure it\'s a fresh work. Also possibly to avoid influencing the judges, so they\'re looking at each work from a clean slate. I don\'t think it\'s anything to do with the idea that outside feedback is cheating, but you may need to get that feedback through email rather than posting on an open website. (Though again, this is me interpreting the rules, check with Anne aka Vaitalla to be certain.)

It\'d be safest to assume Yes.
That way there can be no criticism or Back Stabbing, when you win.

Yes

You can, however, request input from people privately. That is, you can send WIP pictures to a few people in e-mail for private critique. In this sense, it\'s no different from going to a paint club type thing to get opinions there.

Their contest, their rules, so my opinion does not matter.
