Can anyone help me out here?

I remember seeing a while back someone did a chaos mini (IIRC) a Bloodthirster (IIRC), really well painted, that had Christian iconography on it (like Jesus with a crown of thorns on the banner, IIRC)

There was something about how the mini was barred from the painting comp for something to do with the real-world religious content.

Am i imagining this?

Are pics of the mini anywhere?

It was Victor Hardy's Dreadnought Golgotha
I think there was a huge thread on here a few years back about his piece being banned from Gamesday because of the Iconography not fitting GW ethos.

He wasn't banned from Gamesday but disqualified from Golden Deamon UK the year he entered that particular competition.
He later entered it in a USA GD and got a trophy.

However I have not seen his name appear on any other GD lists since that win, but if I remember correctly he used to get the construction work carried for him, which may account for his non-appearance.

There was some pretty pathetic arguing going on in the forums about the whole thing being an insult to Christianity. Hilarious it were :D

as i understand it, he re-did the banner and then got the trophy.

probably is in a huff and doesn't want to enter gd any more (understandable)

not a fan of the mini itself, it feels overdone. not that you can't see he's put a ton of work in. as for the religious references, i couldn't care less but i still don't think it fits in with the fluff

dragonsreach: so are you saying he hired someone to do a sculpt of it and then just finished it by painting it? if so that just annoys the piss out of me.

it was my understanding that the catholic church had issued a decree stating there was no such things as demons or witches. therefore this would be somewhat akin to painting a crucifix on noddy in there eyes.

I believe it was only the duel that ran him into problems with the help of another personon the project .. most of his other stuff as far as I know was all down to him.. hell there is so much of the you build it I paint it on GD's these days it is hard for them to control.....

I personally loved the piece in question for what it was and the work that went into it but at the same time it also misses the mark by a long way as well for me ....kind of a love hate relationship....
but I am with Vike .. it SHOULD be insulting to christian's it's a daemon it's amazing the stink it kicked up.. I personally wouldn't have gone with the same imagery I'd have made it more blasphemous to the emperor who is the religious icon in the universe so it makes sense and I find it funny that yet again GW pull something for it's potential to upset religion when they have basically constantly pissed on religious belief and mythos from day one...???

ah well would be great to see some new stuff rom Mr Hardy if nothing else to see what directon his style took.....

From what I seen the majority of his work had someone else do some most of the sculpting. His CHAOS TERMINATOR LORD was the work of Brother Sinear ( sp?) ( Repent ). He bought the mini off Brother and modified it a bit, placed it in on a larger base that what was allowed at the time and entered it. He told the judges the base was too big and got the ok to enter but failed to mention that 90% of the heavy mods on the figure was not his work. He won the Sword, but only fessed up when someone recognized the mini on Repent's site.
