Well, here goes... the first picture of anything I\'ve ever put up here!
*crosses fingers*
This is the conversion I\'ve done on a Dark Elf Catcher, currently being painted for the TalkBloodBowl.com Legacy Team. First, here\'s why this guy\'s so important to me: he\'s the first miniature I\'ve touched in over 4 years. Not only that, I\'ve never attempted such a conversion before, not even when I was painting back then. And hell, back when I did paint a couple BB teams\' worth of guys (a couple being all I\'ve ever painted, period), I didn\'t even know enough to water down my paint rather than using it straight from the bottle. Consequently, I painted guys who looked like this.
From then until now, rarely a day\'s gone by in these last four years during which I haven\'t visited here, TMP, the Reaper boards, etc. I now know a hell of a lot about converting and painting figures, from a \"book learning\" standpoint, and own all the right stuff with which to do it. But finally, after all this time, this is the guy with whom I\'m starting to put all that accumulated knowledge to the test. As you might guess, it\'s been tough going -- no amount of raw knowledge is ever going to give you the skill that comes from the experience of actually practicing and just doing it. But I\'m hoping he\'ll be the start of many more to come. The conversion certainly isn\'t perfect, not by a long shot; but for my first-ever attempt, I think he\'s alright... and am hoping to find out what you all think, of the conversion anyway, while I muddle my way through the painting (he\'s basecoated, working on shading now).
Anyway, sorry for rambling; now I\'ll get to the pix! Since I\'m guessing not many here are familiar with late-80s 2nd edition Blood Bowl minis, I\'m including the original pre-conversion pictures, too:
Once he\'s painted, he\'ll probably be the first entry -- of many some day, hopefully -- in my gallery here.
