Converted Necrons

Does anyone have any suggestions on something creative I could do for the basing on this guy?

I was thinking crystals and a base similar to my Genestealer Patriarch, since I think dark grey would offset the current bone/blood red color of my troops and the crystals would coordinate with the ultra-glowyness of the neon weapon rods. I\'d maybe like something to elevate him a little, though, that wouldn\'t look too out of place...

In terms of the rest of the conversion, I made the staff head and base swappable so I can field him with either a Warscythe or a Staff of Light. I\'d like to do similar add-on pieces for the rest of the optional wargear, too, but I\'m at a loss as to what to do for Gaze of Flame (he\'s already going to have glowing eyes - I\'m wondering if sculpted, magnetized flames above the eye sockets would look too cheesy?) I\'m also wondering about the Resurrection Orb, as I repositioned his hand and arm to hold one, but I don\'t have anything for size comparison and ideally I\'d like to make it something removable if need be (might have space for a small magnet in his palm, so I\'d ideally want material for an Orb that I could drill into.)

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I really like it man. especially the staff. let\'s see it painted now:beer: for an orb, you could try a small bead with the holes filled in with greenstuff.

I\'d say that you put something at the bottom of the staff ^^

but I guess you have alreday thought about that ;)

I\'d appreciate suggestions and/or comments regarding the appearance of this latest conversion, a Destroyer. I set myself the task of dirtying it up a little, so it\'s got patches of damage/corruption on the carapace and the left forearm. I had lopped off his thumb to use with my converted Necron Lord (was doing a conversion to the original Lord hand and lost his thumb for the 2nd time running), so I decided to mess around with the rest of the hand for the heck of it rather than trying to make a new substitute thumb - I dunno, I think the elongated claws add to the overall creepiness of the figure.

I\'d really like feedback, though, as I\'m just getting acclimated to the Necron range and this is my first Destroyer. Thanks!

I think the removable orb is a goos idea. You could put a rare-earth magnet in the palm and use a small ball bearing (suitably painted) to achieve the effect without sculpting. As for the destroyer I like the long claws.

Something like infinity miniatures uses for their psykers?

Here\'s the finished conversion, with the swappable Resurrection Orb, Staff of Light, and Warscythe. Right now the staff is kinda half \'n\' half, but that\'s more to get the idea across of the conversion. Everything is magnetically mounted, some of the inner workings of the staff involved creative extensions and drilling out - but it\'s done aside from painting. I sculpted the staff to (hopefully) resemble flayed skin, and I\'ve got a good recipe that I think should turn out pretty well in terms of fitting into the overall bone/ceramic scheme.

Never quite figured out how I could mount something like Gaze of Flame, because I\'d rather not drill into his head and lose the detail of the icon on his forehead and likewise, the eye sockets are too small (and already have eyes in \'em.)

I finished painting up his base, as well, and I\'m just waiting for the basecoat touchups on the Lord to dry before I pin him to it and glue everything together.

I apologize if the quality of the pics is a little sketchy. My wife\'s out of town with the in-laws right now and she\'s got the digital camera, so I had to get creative with the scanner...
