corax

next year in my warhammer club, we are playing out the horus heresy with the rules from belloflostsouls. my legion is raven guard and i would like to be able to convert a corax model for the rules we wrote for primarchs. (and also just because it would be awesome) im not that much of a sculptor so i was thinking id base him off of an inquisitor line model because thats the scale of primarchs (i was told they were about the size of dreadnoughts.) i was thinking this model http://es.games-workshop.com/especialista/inquisitor/images/bestiario/tyrus.jpg
but then i had the idea of maybe using a model from another manufacturer. ive perused the gallery of primarchs on the site here, but all of those seem to be self sculpted or based on a normal sized marine so they werent much help. anyone have any ideas for other options? thanks

Power armour isn\'t really designed to fit normal size humans (unless you happen to be a Battle Sister Mrowrrr :D ) Tyrus always looked a bit too much like a bloke in a fat suit for my liking, the proportions are all wrong for a primarch. How about altering the Chaos Magus model instead?

you should take a look at Scibors primarchs that he sculpted....very nice work. Lots of cool details and the proportions seem on the money too. He\'s the man to talk too I think if your interested in converting or sculpting primarchs:cool:

I know I\'m in the belly of the beast (so to speak), but Scibor doesn\'t actually sculpt all that well. Maybe he can, but he doesn\'t. He\'s your go-to guy for machined reliefs and press-moulded terminator heads, though.
Which maybe doesn\'t make him all that helpful, in this case.

First I\'ve heard of dreadnought-sized primarchs. I would\'ve thought they were a bit bigger than normal marines, but not by much. I\'d personally try \'true-scaling\' a 40K marine first.
54mm then... IMO it\'s a toss-up betwen the magus and Artemis. I\'m not sure how many chaotic details you\'d have to take off the former, and the latter might be a tad too dreadnought-sized. Depends on your tastes and how much work you\'re willing to do.

you hit the nail on the head with that second comment. he can do some nice stuff but it always seems unfinished to me. the marined look good, but having bought a few of his minis, i was disappointed. there were some simple bits that he should have delt with.

as for scale, as i understand it, novice s/m\'s are about 7 foot tall, fully fledged ones about 8 foot and primarch about 9. so a primarch should be about a third bigger than a human male

yeah i might go with the magus model... though the grey knight idea is a good one too. as for scale, i always thought of them as about the size of the nightbringer; but i guess the nightbringer probably wouldnt fit for corax huh.

Never heard of Primarchs the size of dreadnaughts either. Half the chapters have relics of their primarchs and they fit most of the regular marines.
Blood Angels - Death Mask of Sanguinus that Dante wears.
Space Wolves - Wolf Helm of Russ that Ulrik wears
Ultramarines - Gauntlets of Ultramar that Calgar wears
Salamanders - Sigil of Vulkan that whats-his-face carries.
Black Legion - Talon of Horus that Abaddon uses
So Primarchs can\'t be that much bigger than a usual marine.
I have seen Sanguinus made from the nightbringer and he looks really great. I have also seen primarchs done from regular marines and they also go well. As long as you stick to the fluff, i don\'t think you will go too wrong.

maybe you could base him off the shrike model as the lightning claws that shrike uses were crafted by corax... just a thought

yramrag u missed the lion helm on the azreal model and the lion sword on cyphers model.

Also when it comes to the background most primarchs weren\'t too much taller than others. Some primarchs are taller than others (magnus the red is one of the tallest)

But all of them have their own characteristics in build and height etc.

Maybe find out a little more about corax but he should only be a bit taller than a terminator at most.

I wouldnt use a inquisitor model tbh
