Anybody got any good techniques for making corn stalks? Got me a scarecrow that need some cornfiled to watch.

My vote would go to the model train corn stalks. Some of them are way out of scale to the trains, and could work quite well.

Alternately, you know those kids plastic farm toys that come in big bags? There used to be a \'crops\' set, that was just plants. Corn stalks, rows of wheat... I spent almost a week trying to figure out how anyone could enjoy playing with those things....

Then I decided that it didn\'t matter.

Yeah, which corn do you mean, corn like wheat and oats grass corn, or corn like corn on the cob (maize)?

I didn\'t know that there was a grass corn? Thought all corn came on cobs and grew from a stalk (similar to bamboo, but not quite)

In the USA, \"corn\" always means the grain maize.

In the rest of the English speaking world, \"corn\" means any grain (I think).

p.s. according to Wikipedia, Australians also say \"corn\" when they mean maize.

In \"How to make Wargames terrain\" (yes I actually paid money for it) it mentions using doormat bristles. This looks quite good if you want the corn as in the stuff they use to make flour. If you want the other corn how about get a thin stick and put blobs of green stuff hanging down from it?

\"I have added a dryed corn plant made by paper on a steel wire and painted with diluited acrylics.
The base is a florist paper covered wire (a steel wire covered by paper used in floral arrangements) and the leaves are done using TwistArt paper (a sort of paper wire called also Pirrka, when you untwist it it takes a realistic shade and texture)

I have cutted the leaves and glued on the paper covered wire, then added a couple of corns done with a fuse of green stuff covered by the same paper. The barbs for the corns and the top of the plant are done with silk and white glue.
I have also thickened the reed sections with some glue.

A couple of washes with dark brown ink and it\'s all\"

I\'m all \'ears\' with this advice. I\'ve \'stalk\'ed around for a while, wondering how to make these, I even asked a \'Kernal\', who didn\'t know.

I know, I know, those jokes are pretty corny. But egads I live in the middle of corn country...ya gotta give me something!!
