Ok. I\'ve lived in Californis for 38 years and simce I\'ve been here I personally have been through 3 earthquakes that are 6.7 or greater and I think there have been like 6 in the whole state. OF COURSE we\'re going to have another in the next 30 years. Probably several! <sigh> And to think we pay for this research.

Well thats the thing Liz they need to look like they are doing something for their money.A few years back in the uk some scientist got a £10k grant dunking digestive biscuit into tea.

Ended up he worked out the best time to keep the biscuit dunked so it did not fall off and into the tea, any 5 year old could work that out and it would not cost 10k .

Yeah, this is too general to really be useful. There will be an earthquake of X magnitude in Cali... OK, good start... sometime in the next 30 years. Oh great, I\'ll expect it every day then will I??

There was another one that found out the ideal time to wait to butter toast (no kidding). Their conclusion was exactly what I would have told them - for a modest fee of course hehe - waiting just long enough so that the butter partially melts gives the best flavour.

The problem\'s inherent to dunking, so to avoid the dreaded half-my-digestive-has-fallen-into-the-tea is not to dunk at all - an Aussie found \"the best way\", where you lay the biscuit flat on the surface of the tea. The unsoaked side supports the soggy side. It works (try it) but I don\'t think I like the flavour as much :bouncy:

Well Liz. There is a guy that comes on Art Bell every so often, that predicted at June of this year a earthquake will be hitting in these spots. From the sounds of things this gentleman is fairly accurate. So get ready to rock and roll.
If I remember right the things to look for are, High Tides, Full moons, and a rash of pets that go missing around a week or two before the quake. I wish that I remember this guys name but I\'m sure that you could probably find it on Coast to coast.

The guy\'s name is Jim Berkland. He lives only a few miles from here. Here\'s his website - http://www.syzygyjob.com/ I\'ve heard him interviewed and while at first some of what he bases his predictions sounds silly (how many lost animals are listed in the paper) he does have a fairly good track record. He doesn\'t predict the day, he will predict a \'window of a few weeks, the approximate magnitude, and the vicinity.

Apparently before the Loma Prieta quake in 89 (which he predicted spot on) the US Navy was doing some sort of ultra low frequency radio wave test in the area of the quake. Just hours before the quake a certain frequency REALLY spiked.....interesting stuff.
