Courtesy of the local hicks: Bullet Holes!

I was out running today along the long networks of bike trails we have here in \"mining country\" when I passed by this sign. The locals have an affinity for shooting stuff, so this was no suprise.

I\'ve seen bullet holes before, but I thought I\'d post this in case people need references to what they look like with lighting and such.

It has all the elements someone would need to create good bullet holes including the distortion of paint and the bending of the metal along with the lighting. Have at it.

Personally seen that kind of damage to signs both in the Northeast of England and around the county in Lancashire.

It\'s not often you see good detail shots of exit points. I\'m sure this will come in handy, indeed.

Shame there\'s no entry holes in the painted side, so you can\'t see them side by side. Oh well, cool find :D

Those don\'t look like piddly .22 holes either so someone was really serious about this :D

I wish they\'d shot more from the front (love how that looks) but there\'s plenty of references for that to be found. Interesting how the coating peeled off in a petal shape in most cases. The bigass holes shot from the front aren\'t circular, shotgun slugs? Keyholing?

I haven\'t seen anything like that, and see where I live.

Excellent resource, though. Good lighting.

That looks like shotgun blasts all the way - the smaller holes on top from birdshot, and the larger holes from buck shot.

Not that I\'d know anything about putting holes in metal with guns. :innocent:

You know, that thing is an example of excellent industrial design. Purely from an aesthetic perspective, compare it to the awkwardness of its Soviet/Russian counterpart, which utterly disrupts the lines of its host rifle.

I fired an AK at a range in Poland earlier this year... damn those things fire big bullets and are heavy!

@NSA I was thinking more about grinning than admiring its lines but it is appealing to look at.

My other choice would be... ummm... http://www.shootersexchange.com/detail.cfm?recordID=70455

man......we really need to stop this insanity people.

STOP THE RITUALISTIC SIGN ABUSE!!!!!

what did a RxR crossing sign ever do to you? and all stop ever says is the same thing.

and the arrows....dear god..... they just show you which way to veer.

its actually squirrels that are shooting the signs......hoping that we will not see them and keep going when all we had to do was just.......................yield *sobs*

I had a \'go\' with a WWII Thopson gun, I\'m 6\'5\" and weight quite alot. The damn thing nearly pushed me over. Awsome, shame they didn\'t have the circular clip for that Gangster look! But the holes when it hit :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Guns don\'t kill people, people do. But people with guns can kill MORE. I\'ve seen \'Bowling for Columbine\' gun ownership does not interest me. Shooting a cardboard cut-out at a range is one thing, having the damn thing in your house is another.

Now an English Yew Bow, I\'d have one of them :D
