Crayfish wip - Dirz Vicar and his companion

Hey, due to some horrible maintenance of my paintstation, I have not been able to paint much. But a few days ago i decided to take care of the eyesore my table were. So now, being almost obsessive, well no, I\'m still lazy, but I do put back paints so they dont clog up the space, I have started painting again! And what fun I\'ve had!

I decided to do a little scene with my Vicar of dirz and a tiger of dirz (whom I named \"David\" for now).

Well I have not put the whole thing together, yet, hopefully in the nearest future, since I actually enjoy this hobby... They are still a tad bit wip, so I would love to hear what I could improve and such!

My cat thought it would be hilarious to walk around my table knocking down everything! Thats why he is a little messed up, he is missing a horn, but I quite like the way it looks now. The arms and stuff also broke of, and in my attempt to glue them back, some superglue landed on his robe, but I have brush on matte varnish, so I hope it will work out. Also new in this model is the use of pigment, I bought some dry pastels and white spirits and went to town with the weathering. I like it! To come is some freehand and things like that, nothing too complicated, since I\'m not certain of my abillities and would like to have a slow and steady learning curve in that area.

Well now comes the tiger:

He has some cleaning up to do, but essentially finished, some top highlights, his face and final touches. I like the colours in this one, I like to believe I succeeded. And, oh yeah, his tail is not completed yet, I have to go round doing that one, its gonna look like his bonestuff ontop his head.

And then there was the base:

Some left on this one, I\'m thinking that the stick (or in mini terms: Tree log!) should stay black, except in the end where it gets some browns or something, making it look unreal and in the realms of the dirz.

Hope you like it! Comments and crits always welcomed! (Dammit, I have to write less !)

Hi Crayfish, I like that Vicar figure, very much my cup of tea. How far along are you? I can\'t really tell if the arm, for example, is brush highlighted (drybrush?) or a zenithal spray of white over black primer as a shadow guide. It looks so different to the sword & helmet front.I\'m into the pink of the Tiger muscle & the turquoise feet but am a bit stuck with the head, does it need much more work? Shot of him looking into the camera please! Nice to see the colours roughed in on the base, will it finish up a flowing lava effect? I\'m a fan of the way Savage Angel did his Skulltaker lava base http://www.coolminiornot.com/229845 with the black bits on top, far nicer than the glossy smooth lava effect that seems to be quite popular of late. Last thought, could you pick up a touch of the pink of the Tiger on the Vicars face highlight & deepen the eye shade to match the Tiger turquoise to help to tie them together on the base? B.

I love the vicar mini it\'s awesome. but im not sure these two minis actuallty fit together in a scene? they, altho greatly painted, look a bit different - vicar is weatherbeaten, rysty and old (sort of) and the tiger look like a cartooncharacter with lots of bright colours...

anyway, it will be interesting to see how this scene turns out :)

A little update on the face of the tiger. It\'s really hard to take a photo of it, but i did my best!

SkellettetS: i wanted to have a little contrast in the scene thats why it is looking a bit funky, but i can understand where you are coming from. I hope it turns out okay :D

BPI: Hey thanks man! The vicars arms have not been painted yet, its black and white primer hehe! The tigers face is really hard to figure out, I cant seem to find any eyes... But yeah, in that pic i only just started slapping on some paint to get a sense of the colors.

The base will not have a lava effect, the orange and yellow was actually going to represent rust. I have some to work on, Im not sure what colour the sand is going to be... Some greeny-yellow i think.

Heres the update (sorry for the pics, i had to hold him so it didnt work really great.)

I\'m thinking of adding blood from his mouth to make him look more grim hehe

Thanks!

Updates!

I\'m almost finished with the whole thing, some minor things on the vicar and then glue him to the base, then its complete!

I have put the tiger on the base, and I also gave him some blood/gore to make him more gory hehe... It didnt turn out well on the photos but, it looks pretty i think, a tad dark, which is very dark in the pics, something about the shine i think.... I shouldnt have put black in the red, well, you live and learn.

Pics!
