Creepiest Song

Since so many of you are music fans, I was wondering what the creepiest song you know is.
Creepy doesn\'t mean gorry or nauseating, but just one that leaves you with a goosebump feeling; that feeling that something isn\'t right with the world.
An example to me of a creepy song would be \"Hines Baked Beans\" by the Who because it leaves you this disjointed feeling of a commercial starring a disfunctional family.
However, for me the creepiest son I know is \"Pleas Mr. Gravedigger\" by David Bowie.
Mood is intense. It\'s acapella with the sound of rain and a shovel digging dirt in the background. He even sneezes during the song!
Anyway here are the lyrics to the creepiest song I know:

There\'s a little churchyard just along the way
It used to be Lambeth\'s finest array
Of tombstones, epitaphs, wreaths, flowers all that jazz
Til the war came along and someone dropped a bomb on the lot

And in this little yard, there\'s a little old man
With a little shovel in his little bitty hand
He seems to spend all his days puffing fags and digging graves
He hates the reverend vicar and he lives all alone in his home

\"Ah-choo, excuse me\"

Please Mr. Gravedigger, don\'t feel ashamed
As you dig little holes for the dead and the maimed
Please Mr. Gravedigger, I couldn\'t care
If you found a golden locket full of some girl\'s hair
And you put it in your pocket

\"God, it\'s pouring down\"

Her mother doesn\'t know about your sentimental joy
She thinks it\'s down below with the rest of her toys
And Ma wouldn\'t understand, so I won\'t tell
So keep your golden locket all safely hid away in your pocket

Yes, Mr. GD, you see me every day
Standing in the same spot by a certain grave
Mary-Ann was only 10, full of life and oh so gay
And I was the wicked man who took her life away
Very selfish, Oh God

No, Mr. GD, you won\'t tell
And just to make sure that you keep it to yourself
I\'ve started digging holes myself
And this one here\'s for you

\"Lifted our girl, she apparently doesn\'t know of it
Hello misses, thought she\'d be a little girl
Bloody obscene, catch pneumonia or something in this rain\"

imho is \"solitaire\" by Jethro Tull... a quite short song, not creepy music... but lyrics...

Brain-storming, habit-forming, battle-warning weary winsome actor spewing
spineless chilling lines--
The critics falling over to tell themselves he\'s boring
And really not an awful lot of fun.
Well who the hell can he be when he\'s never had V.D.,
And he doesn\'t even sit on toilet seats?
Court-jesting, never-resting--he must be very cunning
To assume an air of dignity
And bless us all
With his oratory prowess,
His lame-brained antics and his jumping in the air.
And every night his act\'s the same
And so it must be all a game of chess he\'s playing--
But you\'re wrong, Steve. You see, it\'s only solitaire.

Mine is an obscure one... but the title says pretty much: \"Befriend a Child Killer\" by Venetian Snares

anything by girs aloud or pop in general, tone deaf people singing bland crap that is so repetitious. you have heard the song within the first thirty seconds and then it is repeated over and over again.

the record companies and radio stations have a lot to answer for.

The 365 Day project on Ubuweb has some great stuff, including an old song about a Transvestite, sung by Louis Farrakhan. Anyway, 026 is pretty creepy but fun, but 273 is off-the-charts creepy. To cleanse your soul after listening to that one, be sure to check out 140.

Nirvana\'s \"Polly\" off Nevermind always gives me the heebie-jeebies. I ought to look up the lyrics to confirm, but superficially it seems to be about rape/sexual sadism. Cobain was one tormented dude.

\"Red Right Hand\" by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds is groovy and creepy. Not sure if it is on one of his albums, but it is on the \"Songs in the Key of X\" compilation from the X-files TV series. Great disc.

Yeah, that\'s a creepy (and great) song! It\'s on the \"Let love in\" album, which is possibly his best! Another great, creepy, song of his is \"Song of Joy\" on his \"Murder Ballads\" album! It gives me goose bumps every time!

Hell, pretty much anything by Nick Cave. \"The Carny\" is pretty spooky-ooky. I first encountered it, and Cave, in the film \"Wings of Desire\".

The Carny left behind a horse, all skin and bones,
that he named Sorrow,
and it was a shallow unmarked grave, where that old nag was laid
And it was the dwarves that were given the task of digging the ditch
and laying the nag\'s carcass in the ground
While Boss Bellini waved his smoking pistol round,
\"The nag was dead meat! We can\'t afford to carry dead weight\"...
/from memory
/I think the clear implication was that \"the Boss\" murdered the Carny, that\'s why he \"disappeared\"

Oh yes! :D Nick Cave has done a fair share of creepy music (also with Birthday Party...). Speaking of Nick Cave and creepy... anyone seen \"The Proposition\"?

when I was a kid, many moons ago, I remember seeing a news program claiming that if you played STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN backwards it would have a satanic message....

For years I\'d get creeped if I heard that!

ACDC, Night Prowler with the Richard Ramirez tie-in later making it even creepier. Bon Scott was real good at sounding like he knew about unsavory activity firsthand.

Brilliant movie. Lost track of the number of times I\'ve watched it. Little creepy in its own right.

One of my favorite albums is also the creepiest, For Lovers Only by Southern CUlture on the Skids

Barnyard Ballbuster

\"She was mean
She was cruel
She was ornery
Just like a Mule
She chewed her way thruogh my barbed wire fence
And I ain\'t seen my baby since\"

Biscuit Eater

\"I met my baby down at the truck stop with a video arcade.\"

(...think about it.)

Clyde\'s Lament

\"I got 5 fingers on one hand, and on the other I just got 3.
I lost one finger in a huntin\' accident, and the others in a factory.\"

(Do the math.)

\"Nachville Toupé\" is pretty bizarre too, but we\'ll leave it at that.

Well, this is more of a song and performance - Alice Cooper doing Welcome to My Nightmare on the Muppet Show.

Actually come to think of it anything Alice Cooper did during that appearance is pretty creepy.

For my fiance, it would be tubuler bells. She actually freaks out when she hears it and i\'ve seen her thtow a radio across the room from it. However for me one of the creepiest is Alice Cooper\'s Roses on White lace from his Raise Your Fist and Yell. I listened to that back when i was like ten and it\'s creeped me out since then. Of course the song is about peeling the skin from a bride on her wedding day and hiding her head. :D
