Lets start by saying that your work is technically sound, and you have all the basics sorted out. What follows is my personal opinion only, as all art is subjective take it as it is.

1. This model has already had so many paint jobs put up it really is hard for yours to jump out as anything different from this one picture, this is where you initially lose people, there is no WOW spot. The green try to be the wow spot, but it really isn't.
2. That leads us into focus points, while a near monochromatic paint scheme as this can be very eye catching, you haven't taken the highlights into the "pop" zone and so everything just kind of blurs together when you look at it.
3. The above 2 lead me into what I would say is the real reason this is the 6-7 range for me, some shading, nice highlights but nothing else added or unique to the model (freehand, unique color scheme, ect.) mean this is a nice table top quality and nothing more.

Hope this helps, if you want the magical 8 (for most of us) your really going to have to put allot more in.

Thx for replying. I was thinking the same thing that there's no pop area and everything was kinda washed out and blurred together. Definitely something on my Toro list on my next mini.

Hi, as wombat says your work is technically correct. Needs lots more edge highlights. Its just about smoother blending and painting that will come with time.

Seeing that you have only been painting a year, this is great work and a 6-7 score is excellent.

If you look at the GW pict you can see the edges highlights have been picked out .

the base is dull. a good base allways gets u a better score. i would agree with the model being a bit plain without any pops. a really, really smooth and again awesomely smooth paintjob will still have a hard time getting more than a 8. people want something they havnt seen before.

You are a way better painter than me. I think if you didthe exact same paint job but increased the overall color value while getting insome good contrast you might come out with less of a wash of dark. Lost at thepallet not at the brush.

Thx for the pointers guys. Really appreciate it. Trying my hand at some blending at the moment but still trying to find the sweet spot with dilution. But I'm enjoying more than 3 billion layers of glaze.

Not much to add, but I think it's scoring in the right range.

Nothing to do with you, but that model is just wonky looking.
