I\'m looking at trying the Wargods of Aegyptus, and want to know if anyone can give me an idea of what it\'s like, and whether it\'s any good as a game.

Thanks

Go to www.crocodilegames.com. It will answer all your question, miniatures are cheap $ wise, lots of new ones to come out, olympus is coming out as well, that greek mythology, were you use the spartans, titans, myceneans, trojans, etc.
Overall it is good, no complainment except that not many people play it and it\'s hard to find an opponent to play against, because there are not many players around, but in the upcoming year it should be mroe of them.
Cheers.

I started playing Wargods a few months ago in San Deigo and love it. It is a smaller game than warhammer, typically played at 1000 or 1250 points, although I want to get up to 1500. It is very campaign and scenario driven.

The part that makes in so different from Warhammer is the way turns work. You assign each unit or character an order by placing a card with that order next to them, face down, before the turn starts. You roll for \"initiative\" essentially, and the winner activates 1 unit...his OR yours. You take turns activating units. It adds a lot of strategy to get to activate any unit on the table. Your troops still too far away to shoot efectively, activate his archers before you have to move up. Need to win a certain HTH fight before he swings at you? Activate your own unit and cut him down first.

It is also very character-driven. It is very much about the Harbingers from each army fighting each other. It can make it feel a bit like herohammer at times, but since there is such a focus on the scenarios and subplots, sometimes that fight matters, sometimes not.

I highly recommend it. THe minis are great too. Some of the Wargods of Olympus and Hyperboria models are out too through special order from the Croc.

Wargods plays well. It has a relatively simple rules mechanic coupled with a system that puts a premium on player tactics, not buckets o\' dice.

It is fun for a one off game and a basic game can be played in about 3 - 4 hours. Where the system really excels is in its campaign system, which is based around the idea that your Harbinger ( leader of your Warband) can progress and become more powerful as time goes on.

We will be running a variety of demo games at Historicon; 20-23JUL06, Lancaster PA and at GenCon; 07-10AUG06, Indianapolis IN. Feel free to stop on by and kick the tires, take it around the block and see how you like it.
