Talking about freehands.... this time I have tryed to exorcise my demons painting a complex (for me) design on the large shield called pavise used by historical crossbowmen to have some cover in battle.
I have used as inspiration a real medieval pavise seen in a museum in Florence.
The miniature is part of the new line from Mindstalkers game (http://www.mindstalkers.com) and the scale is about 40mm so it was really hard to paint but this is the result:
