Hi.
I havnt been posting here much lately mainly due to being pretty busy sculpting stuff.
Ive just sent my second bunch to Dan at Crunch Waffle and thought it would be cool to group the pics together here with the first lot. Ive had lots of fun doing a lot of these guys. Some were a bit testing though.
My favourite ones are Bog Mummy and Jersey Devil.

Wow... that\'s a lot of sculpting! There\'s several pieces there I wouldn\'t mind painting. You\'re getting better and better for each sculpt you do, Mark!

Nice stuff Klute!

I will definately have to get the Chupa and the Jersey Devil.....I have a thing for Crypto-critters!

Did I ever show you my Chupa?

I like the scaped goat. That is an aweful lot of sculpting, I hope this doesn\'t get too much in the way of your painting.

I see you have a thing for urban myths there...

Have you done (Or considered) ones like:

Mothman

The Men in Black (Not the film ones lol)

Abominable snowman (yeti)

I like the squonk, he looks so terribly miserable, he\'s almost cute. I have to admit, I haven\'t heard of most of these.

I have been drawing up many concepts of all three of those...I\'d like to work more on sculpting, as I find it very rewarding. What better to start than with Urban Myth/cryptozoological things....No one can tell me that they are wrong that way....\"Hey Mothman doesn\'t look like that\" \"Yes he does\"....lol

EEP!

klute I had no idea you sculpted the Archer Fish...

I bought that for my mom for her birthday because they are her favorite fish in real life, we didn\'t have a tank, so I got her the next best thing!

so what I\'m trying to say is Thank you!

Ha
Just when you thought it was safe to buy a mini.lol

Thanks for the kind words all.
They are great fun to sculpt and also the researching is very interesting. They are nearly all true \"urban legends\". Poor squonk.:(
The rope around the bog mummy is a garrotte (sp?) and he has a dent in his skull from where he was bashed. There are quite a few real life preserved bodies found like this. I mixed the look of the peat bog mummy with the Egyptian ones that were strangled and beaten before burial.

Yeah theres a lot of making it up with looks but on the whole I try and keep things like the descriptions I find on tinternet.

Mike.....the scaped goat is a very well known saying and I was delighted to read up its origins. Poor thing. The sculpted one is based on a version (Egyptian I think) where the goat is pushed over a cliff after it is lead from the village. I elaborated making him come back for a bit of revenge.

I\'d never heard of the Squonk until the Genesis album....(Ahrrrgh can\'t remember the title!)

Mark: My art teacher was a great fan of the Pre-Raphelites and Holman Hunt was his favourite.
It\'s kind of Ironic that I pass the Lady Lever gallery in Port Sunlight 3 or 4 times a week while at work and have not been in yet and that is where the painting is now housed.

Ha! I like the Jackalope, the flying pig and the Scaped Goat. Not too sure about Squonk (as in the character not the sculpt, which is cool!) - he looks like Beethovens last movement..... (as in what\'s brown and sits on a piano stool?)
lol
