hey CMON....

i have another old mini here, but were movin\' closer to the new stuff...

this guy is the first piece that i was sent by Privateer Press to paint in the spring of \'04...
mike gave me 2 days to assemble, prime, and paint him...by day 3 he had to be in the mail...
i\'m a slow painter, and wasn\'t happy with the result here, but it was alright...i ended up doin\' freelance work for privateer for the next few years...
this guy wouldn\'t win any awards, but did end up in the \'04 catalogue...

please to enjoy:

first off, let me say, mike and ali mcvey can paint unbelievably fast...they could turn out a paintjob like this from prep to finish in a day, without breakin\' a sweat...

mike ran a tight ship, and always tried to give tough deadlines...
he always gave a bit of leeway when the print deadline was not right around the corner...

i\'m the slowest painter, and always missed my deadlines...i\'m not made for the studio life...

cheers

Ok. NOW we\'re talking. Nice job on the jack.

I\'ve been working on a PoM army. Makes me think I need to get off my butt and take some pics.

On another note, I\'m insanely jealous that you got to work with the McVeys. It\'s entirely possible that I spent 30+ hours staring at Mike\'s original Teclis model in the mid 90s. What an inspiration.

I can\'t wait to see what your \'05-today minis looks like, Jah.

Oh...

PS: It\'s 14 below today. I can only imagine what it must be in Fairbanks today. Good timing on the move, bud. =P

it\'s 60 and sunny here in so. cal. today...
tomorrow i\'m off to tijuana, and then a bus ride to mazatlan...woohoo!!!

i know what ya mean about the mcveys...
mike has been my hero since i was a teenager...
when i visited their house in seattle, i was lucky enough to check out that original teclis in real life...it\'s still a gorgeous piece after all these years...
the original stegadon, and green knight are also incredible...
holdin\' his minis was a nerve-rackin\' experience...
workin\' for mike was the highlight of my paintin\' career so far, and seein\' ali\'s minis in real life was always a pleasure...
she is such a phenominal natural talent, and a nice lady to boot...

i still have a bunch of \'04 to post...
there are aslo a good number of paintjobs for privateer to put up still...
the problem is that all the pics are super wide...i need to crop and stack the minis in a collage first(and i paint when i should be workin\' on pics)...

i\'ll get more pics up as soon as i settle down a bit in mazatlan...

stay warm...

cheers

Weather.com says it\'s 74 in Hanalei right now. Why, oh why did I move back to AK? /sigh

Hope the travel is going well and I\'m looking forward to seeing more pics!
