eh, i think you just have to say to your opponent: \"This lil\' fella \'ere is actually The Doomdealing God Of Death And Destruction; Lord Asreal\" before the battle..

And of course make a nice mini, and not just the hat i was thinking about earlier...

(propably only in my mind)

Just tell the \'Dude\' your playing that you are using Azreal\'s rules, but say your using this mini (Kick ass conversion i presume!) instead of Azreal.
Alas, you can\'t mix and match rules from different Characters etc.

GW needs to set up a character generation system like GURPS or such, where you can buy from advantages of other characters but have to pay for them.

Problem is that would mean quantifying the relative values and I bet half their existing characters would become illegal.

Wow I didn\'t realize that current 40K didn\'t have rules for characters. I also assume then they don\'t have rules for characters getting better after a game either.

I haven\'t played 40K since Rogue Trader, and every now and then I am reminded why.

Well 40k do have rules for normal HQ characters but they dont become better after each battle (Unless you use campaign rules but theire just SO crappy..)

Thats more the Necromunda style...

I was talking about the origial rules where you build a character from the ground up. Assigned all of thier stats and then purchased gear. Each point of stats was worth so many points, each pieces of grear so many etc. So you could make a \'Hero\' that was worth 8 points or one worth 800.

The getting better was an old set of rules for characters, there were two parts. 1 part was if they got wounded whether they survived the battle or not, you would roll and get stuff like missing arm (which you would then usually spend points to buy a bionic arm). You also got so many points to spend for every battle they lived through, these added to their stats or grear. It was a very different game back then though, heck there weren\'t even army lists originally.

Yeah, but back then WH40K used to be more about skirmishes. Now, as it\'s become more \"army\"-oriented, detailed rules as that would make for reeeeeeeeeeeeeally long games.
That\'s where Necromunda kicks in. With all the little niceties like lasting injuries, hordes of equipment and experience. Works because you use only about up to a dozen minis.
I mean, take Warmachine: a Jack can pick up an enemy, then toss him around, where he can hit other enemies, and so on... transferred to a scale of (sometimes) over a hundred minis, that would take ages.

You can, of course, make your own charakter for 40K. My old Chaptermaster had standard master Stats, with a sword like the Emperor\'s Champion and a Storm Shield, and a Holy Relic... just added the values and then added, like 20-ish points. Just do what you like. You definitely will need your opponent\'s approval, so don\'t go overboard and keep points/items/skills etc. sane.

See, this is one of the draw backs of a custom chapter, you can\'t have a custom chapter master or cutsom primarch...that just sucks.

Well, you can, just use Master stats, and you wont need anything fansier than a power weapon and bolt pistol, so...
