Started this ages ago, but James\'(cybersquig) recent busts got me inspired to finish off this geezer, with a little help from sam (sg2009) who gave me some c&c along the way..

My second sculpt to date (that got finished XD)

To be perfectly honest, and not trying to be mean... It\'s your second sculpt, you\'ve got a long way to go! It is rather featureless and even shapeless, and I find it hard to say anything more about it than that.

Work more on trying to capture shapes and features and you\'ll probably get more useful critique. Study how mouths look, how noses, ears look etc. Try to capture that. Get yourself some reference material on anatomy and study how shoulders look, how the bones and muscles build up the shape. Try to capture that.

Sorry if this is not the comments you wanted to hear. But this is a beginner sculpt, and you need to practice the basics to get to the point where it\'s meaningful to discuss details. So, grab those sculpting tools and a fresh ball of putty and work on your third sculpt!

i echo rituals comments. observation is the way to go. also, try not to get caught or you look like a weirdo (trust me)!

it\'s good for a 2nd attempt but you really need to up your detail and textures. look at all the busts around, especially charactures as they exaggerate anatomy more. keep practicing!

Thanks, thats the stuff I wanted to hear, after all somthing is better than nothing, especially when starting out.

Ive resculpted part of this geezers ears and am adding some more detail now.

(EDIT: I know you are doing a cyclop, but the steps should be similar )

Thats a great tute, thanks for the linkage. Will bear that in mind for my next attempt. In the end I thought it best to lay this one to rest so I gave it a quick paintjob and left it.

PM Prophet, he did have a really good tutorial on sculpting on his website. Prophet Miniatures, but it appears he\'s having a revamp, still he may be able to email you something
