Have a pile of sci-fi kits to build for our kid\'s room. This is the first:

Cheers :)

Yep, some airbrushing, oil/acrylic washes and pastel/Tamiya weathering kit for the weathering.

It was a bit of a test model. Used a no-name Chinese Iwata HPC rip off that came with my compressor on this. Have fixed up my old Iwata and bought a new Paasche that I\'m using on the other stuff I\'m doing as they\'re mostly smaller and finer than this thing.

It was good fun working on something that required less anal retention to get looking halfway decent! My ADHD likes it :)

Nice work Scott, always liked those Cylon Raiders, seriously far more cool looking than the Vipers.

Thing that alway got me was, if Cylons are artificial intelligences why the chuff couldn\'t they shoot worth a damn?

And don\'t get me started on the Star Wars Trade Guild Android Armies. lol lol lol

cylons? a i?

cylons were cyborgs not machines they had machine componants fitted into their brains to ensure loyalty to the leaders and armour grafted onto their bodys the side effect was this slowed their reactions and dummed them down with no free will of their own:D its like being married, you cant do anything without \"THE IMPERIOUS LEADER\'S\" consentlol

I bought this kit very cheaply from Ebay a couple years back, with the very intention of painting it up.

Absolutley love what you did with it!

Fantastic, brilliant job!

(now at least I have a guide to use!!)

I\'m refering to the series I watched: (blatently copied from Wikipedia, so you know this is accurate {T.I.C.})

\"The Cylons of the 1978/1980 series are not the mechanical foils seen throughout the series, but an advanced reptilian race who created the robots (who were referred to as Cylons within the show) to serve them, maintain their vast empire and to man their military forces in the face of a sudden population drop that eventually led to the Cylons\' extinction — seemingly overnight. This fact is briefly mentioned in the 1978 movie-length premier of the series (near the end of episode 2 in syndication) when Apollo relates the Cylons\' origin to Boxey. In the episode \"War of the Gods\", during Count Iblis\'s private discourse with Count Baltar, Baltar mentions that he recognizes Iblis\'s voice, referring to Patrick Macnee\'s voicing of the Imperious Leader in the opening episode/theatrical movie (McNee also played Iblis), with Iblis countering that if that was true it must have been \"transcribed\" over a thousand yahren (years) ago and programmed into the mechanical body of the Imperious Leader.

The follow-up series Galactica 1980 had a two-episode arc entitled \"The Night the Cylons Landed\" that featured a humanoid Cylon, though unlike its successors in the post-millennial reimagining, it was not organic, but a complex mechanical construct.\"

As to \"you cant do anything without \"THE IMPERIOUS LEADER\'S\" consent. Yes you can, just be prepared for the Sh*tstorm that follows. lol

It\'s a re-release of the old 1978 Revell kit. Just a bog standard kit. It\'s pretty big - wingspan is 10-12\" I\'d say.

They actually used this kit for the studio models in Galactica 1980 apparently.

Really nice work!

I didn\'t know what a Cylon Raider was until a few weeks ago when I was bullied into watching Battle star. Now I\'m hooked.

Best Cylon raider model I\'ve seen, it looks as though it could have actually been a prop from the film/ series.
I always thought the Vipers were quite cool too so I\'m looking forward to seeing that.

Bloody fantastic!!!

It\'s such a shame your house is a bit further away than Saltaire! I would have like to come round drink beer, eat kebabs, and talk painting (that and meet the wee-one).

Good to see you painting again! Looking great!

Nice Scott!

Man that brings back memories. I have the kit around here somewhere, bought it and built it as a kid. Makes me want to find it and redo it.

Nice work!

Cheers,
Grumb
