Hi everyone!
I started this sculpt this week and have made great improvement. I am learning a lot uring the process.
Here are a couple illustrations of a Babau:
These are assassin demons that attack with their claws and have a red residue produced by their bodies that is very acid and may even corrode weapons used against them. They have a distinct horn growing from the back of their heads.
I am trying to get the look of the first Babu pictured above for the claws, head horn, feet and arms, but using the second babau\'s face and torso.
I wanted him to be very skinny and yet muscular. I have purposedly misplaced a few of his shoulder and neck muscles to give him an unnatural look.
Also, you might want what that grey putty is, let me tell you. I live in Brazil and that is what we have here that is similar to Greenstuff, but the cost is waay low. As I\'m still starting on sculpting I really don\'t want to be spending the expensive GS yet.
Enough talk, on the model:
The skeleton is made so he might get long arms and I already gave a hint on where his claws should be pointing. I want him to be in the middle of a swinging action, as if he was attacking with his claws.
Here I have already finished his cagerib and started wirking on his legs, that should be long and slim, almost as if he had no meat and muscles.
I have done one of his feet so I can do the other leg later, also his back is finished. At this point I decided to clip off the claws I made becouse the wire was too wide and I want his claws to be sharp and slim, almost like needles. I also realised it would have been better to make the arms separate for they kept blocking my view of the ribcage and legs.
Here are his fingers. I decided to do them separated and them asemble the hand.
Here I have finished his Skull and added a couple of teeth on his jaw.
Fingers sorted...
... and placed. I had to brace the fingers until the putty hardened but unfortunately didin\'t get a shot of the first set-up. Here is how it turned out:
Here you can see the set-up so his fingers stayed where I hant them. I have also made the upper side of his skull but didin\'t get a shot, sorry...
And here he is! I still have to add the bracers and jelwery. I also am wondering how would I best represent the red acid that comes out of him. What do you think, should I model them with big drips of slime coming down his arms and legs as pictured on the illustrations or should I just make the acid when painiting the model? I\'m also wondering if I can make it with white glue tinted red apllied after painting it, so it would look cool and transparent?
Thanks a lot for looking at this guy! Your comments and appretiation are welcome as I\'m just starting. Please take a look at my gallery here to see some other sculpts I made.
