DA Vet. Sgt. Question

So I got the small boxed set of plastic space marines, and I\'m building a DA army. I saw on the GW site that the Vet. Sgts. are displayed with battle robes.

However I\'d like to make the sergeant that comes with that set into a DA vet. sgt. without the robes.

Does anyone know a good way to distinguish him as a Veteran Sergeant and not just a Sergeant? Something to define him as that? (Other than battle robes)

Hopefully I\'ll get to post a pic on this thread of him this weekend.

I thought about painting his helmet (bottom half since I\'m using the head that\'s half exposed) white (or bone) like the traditional veteran marine description, but I\'m not sure if that deviates from the DA style.

Any ideas or known solutions are welcome.

Giving him a terminator honours pad would work, if not mean you couldnt use one of the nice dark angels ones.

Or maybe giving him a set of robes that flow out behind him, or a cloak of some sort.

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrr, maybe if you used the wing things, and stick them to the back of his pack, on the exhaust vents.

If You\'ve got the upgarde pack theres all the insense orbs and things also as Bengoodallsaid the wings are a good way to make him stand out. Also knee pad colours, maybe a banner theres loads of ways to do it. Have a look through some of the gallery pics.

Another sneaky trick is in the basing, putting him on a higher base would help, just to put him on a slightly higher level.

Also, depending on how you arm your men, I tend to arm them with as many power weapons as I can, so it doesnt work for me, but if the rest of your sergeants have just the chain sword/bolt pistol combo, then giving him a nice big power sword (possibly converting one of the special dark angels ones, those are very nice) could do the trick.

So I don\'t have many upgrade parts, but I think I came up with something clever. I made a tabard/loin cloth thing to go on him, I\'m going to put the strange nunchuck looking things with the skulls at the bottom on him as well.

Instead of the casing to his bolt pistol being red, I made it the Deathwing Bone White. The rest of the guns in the squad are red.

I think I\'m going to keep the bone white gun thing a constant among the Vets. just so they stand out a little more.

Thanks for the suggestions.

EDIT: One other thing. With the DA Codex it lists all of the sergeants that accompany every squad as Veteran Sergeants, so I\'m guessing there aren\'t a such thing as regular Sergeants in DA armies anymore?

Sorry for the double post.

After looking through several many pictures of veteran sergeants from all sorts of chapters, it seems like a pretty much staple thing that they all have some form of power weapon.

So I\'m going to be giving the Veteran Sergeant a revamp when I get home with a Power Fist or something similar.

Thanks again for the ideas and advice.

Sgt\'s/Vet\'s almost always go for the power weapon + Pistol Combo..

if you want him to stand out a little more than usual maybe make his pistol mastercrafted and put a little more detail on it.

an easier way (if you\'re doing an entire army) paint his helmet a different distinctive colour.

I did this with Dark Angel assault marines.. the Vet Sgt from 1st squad has a bright white helmet and the 2nd squd vet has a yellow helm. To further emphasis they were vetran i gave them both the older MkVII helms (pointed ones) which stand out against the MKVIII (flat resperator normal type) and look a lot cooler.

another idea.. squad sgt/vet sgt\'s will often carry the squads banner!!
