Dante in metallic paint

Hi all. I have had this figure for a while now and originally it was painted up before I got into NMM. To be honest the metallic gold was a bit pants so it never got posted on CMoN.

Anyway it was suggested that it may be in my best interest to get into real metallics to better ingratiate myself with the Golden Demon judges.So I thought i\'d give real metallics a go and Dante was in line for a makeover.

As yet I have only really concentrated on repainting the gold and have not bothered with the other areas. When I\'m finally happy with how the gold turns out I will strip the model and start from fresh.

And so finally comments and critiques please on the gold armour. What do you like, what don\'t you like and how can it be made better.

Well, first of all the gold armor looks pretty good but I think it could do with a glaze or two of bestial brown/scorched brown. + i think that your nmm are just amazing and with the release of the new chaos which are painted nmm by the eavy metal team I think the judges will like the style more.
By the way what colors do you use for gold nmm?

Gold NMM receipe :-

Start with Bestial Brown basecoat and do the intitial highlight with Snakebite leather. The difference is only slight but it lets you get the areas you want highlighted correct to start.

Next work the highlights up to Bubonic Brown. At this point you have the option of highlighting with sunburst yellow. It can make the end gold a bit more vibrant. Next go back and shade using Scorched Brown. By shading after the majority of the highlighting you make sure you are getting the right amount of \" shine\" first, otherwise you may not have enough space for blending in all the highlight colours.

Then the top highlight of Bleached bone. This makes the final \"lightbar\" where the light is being reflected and is also used to highlight edges which would reflect light towards the viewer and bring definition to some areas.

Finally use Skull white for small highlights to accenuate the Bleached bone at the very tips. You don\'t want to use Skull white in the same way as the bleached bone as it won\'t look quite right. If you look at brass/gold items in real life the lightest colour you will see will be a \"creamy\" metallic, it won\'t be reflecting white light unless it is a polished mirror surface.

Thanks. I wasn\'t planning on giving up on NMM just yet anyway. Brokenblade amongst others have proved that you can win at GD with NMM entries
